As some of you may be aware, today is a holiday here in The Colonies.  Unfortunately I'm feeling a little sniffly today (hopefully allergies not Pig Fever!), so I've decided not to go to a pool party with friends.  Instead, I'm being a hopeless loser and watching Top Gear.  So I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to get back in the swing of modeling!  So I dug out a project I started last year, since it will make for a quick, and satisfying build.  My goal is to finish by tomorrow evening, since I'm off to England on Monday.

The Story So Far...

So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Nice to see you back at the bench. Your speed builds are always a treat to see.
Look behind you!

Right, the radome is fitted...and a tentative weapons fit has been selected...

Now, anyone want to guess which Southeast Asian jungle this little beastie will be escorting Canberras over?

Not sure if it's the missiles or the new radome...but she certainly looks faster !

How many Hunters does this make now?  I like it!

;D  This is my 4th Revell 1/72 Hunter in the past few years...USAF F-99, Red Arrows, RAF Hunter FG.14, now this...which will be a Hunter F.12, Based at Da Nang, c. 1969, normally flying escort missions for the RAF and RAAF Canberras based at Phan Rang.

OK, here's the first look at the paint scheme...it's not my best effort, but I guess I'm a bit out of practice!  The next one will be better!

This Hunter F.12 is in the RAF's interim Southeast Asia camouflage scheme, used on Hunters, Strikemasters, and a small number of Canberras from 1968-1970.  During this period the RAF SEA Command reverted to the WWII two-tone blue roundel, though this was dropped in 1970, when all RAF SEAC aircraft reverted to the standard red/blue or red/white/blue roundels and fin flashes.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Looking quite dangerous with that missile load and new nose.  What was the source of your new nose section?

Nice work so far! A looker in the making! Cool backstory as well.
Cheers,

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Apologies for the poor lighting, but here are a couple as the decals go on.  Squadron markings still to go, but I cant decide between 64 Sqn converting to the Hunter after the Javelin instead of the Phantom, or reactivating a few RAuxAF flying squadrons in the late 60s....

Gotta run out to the shop shortly, since I dont have any white paint for the missiles.   :banghead:

Better pics later!

I went with 64 Sqn, who were based at Tengah, Singapore with the Javelin until '67 when they deisbanded and reformed as the shadow sqn for the Phantom OCU.  It seemed more logical to have a Vietnam-based Hunter Sqn take up the 64 Sqn numberplate rather than deploy a RAuxAF Sqn...I think the Auxilliary Squadrons reformed to fill the gaps would have been based closer to home...
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

All in all that is very nice.

The new nose (Sea Harrier ??) does not look out of place at all.
