http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,23985.0.html

Ive read several Sherlock Holms books by a new author but they're not so good as Connan Doyles.

The Biggles novels are a source of great whatiffery, with not only aircraft, boats, tanks and cars, etc., in potentially unusual markings and colours, but fictional aircraft types too.

Or "Biggles flies undone"  - quite popular with the enemy, I believe, the ladies that is.

Just dug out my old copy of Biggles in the South Seas to remind nyself what the "Scud" flying boat looked like: unfortunately, the dust jacket is long gone, so no picture....

Check online for book covers...there's lots around.

Meanwhile the biggles Beriev Be-6 awaits decals, and I'll prime the Boeing Clipper that'll become an experimental early war German flying boat....3-colour camouflage of grey and two green splinter. :drink: (Biggles In The Baltic).
I've also retrieved from the loft a Revell 1/125th U-boat

Just built an Emhar 1/72nd Whippet...took about 20 minutes. It comes with German markings and nice artwork, so it'll be ideal for that story when he crashes a captured German tank.

"Biggles Delivers The Goods" has enormous scope for modelling and Whatiffery.
Apart from the Gosling, RAF Lightning, Flying Fortress (or Superfortress??), Zeros and Liberators, there's a Marauder used as a transport (being built, modified...cut out and glueing tonight at IPMS Stafford's meeting) and carrier-launched Beaufighters with torpedos.
Now then.....standard RAF TF.Xs, deployed temporarily to RN Carriers (why? what's wrong with Avengers??) or possibly NAVAL Beaufighters, with folding wings. I'm very tempted with the latter, especially as the Revell(ex-Matchbox) kit is out, cheap, easy, etc.. The decals in this re-issue are superb.
