Well, I'll be keeping an eye out for your builds - as I said, it's nice not to feel alone as a ship whiffer.  We're not a numerous lot here, and if I could get my Greek friend to post his work, it'd be another number in our ranks.

Too bad you won't be able to finish it Geoff - I've always got really great service from WEM in the past.

Do you want to move this thread Current & Finished Projetcs?

Yeap generally they are good but i know John and Caroline are moving to the states at the moment, so service is a little disrupted whilst the system changes to adapt to being without their direct input.

Moving to current builds as just had todays post and no packages so slim chance of completing build this weekend have gone, still it allows me to bring up the 381 to similar standard ready for fitting out.

Well, Thorvic, keep the faith, man.  It sucks you got the delays on the OWGB, but you'll still turn out some interesting boats.

No worries i wont loose hope as these two are just the warm up for a string of projects planned in in 1/700
It the 72nd modelling thats going to be mothballed for the forseable future  :o

Anyway despite awaiting the parts needed for detailing, the basic hulls are progressing still

The type 382 is now awaiting fitting out and the 381 just requires the masts completing.

Ship building is something i've never really considered before but this thread is really pulling me towards it.

Is there a sort of idiots guide you can point me towards so i could read up ?

Not really an idiot's guide needed, per se... whiffing ships is somewhat of a liberal subject, and the degree of realism you stand to is somewhat up to you.

Thorvic, take a look in my big thread, there's all sorts of ship stuff mixed in with the aircraft and spattering of tanks - I started whiffing with ships - Blame Sequoiaranger!

Well i converted a 1/600 Charles De Gaulle to a conventional powered Canadian carrier for the Canadarama GB back on the old site.

Nice - I've got a 1/800 George Washington I'm going to waterline and scale-o-rama into a 1/700 Canadian CVN.

Damn fine work.. whiffery or not !

It certainly is an area I have not ventured into.

That's some very impressive work, Thorvic! I've no doubt that if you hadn't had to wait on supplied, you'd've gotten it done in time for the 1 Week GB.

Actually, that may have been good luck for the rest of us duffers...
;)
Seriously though, this is shaping up to be an incredible project and I hope you'll keep us updated.

Just a note that these builds are still active, just events seem to be transpiring against me in trying to get the PE and bits needed to complete the model !!! - (DOH  :banghead:)

WEM appear to be in a state of flux at the moment, and alternative suppliers in the UK are out of stock !!!!!.

However in the meantime i have started my SMW project  ;D

Well, patience and persistence, you'll get through the adversities, Thorvic!

I've been chugging along on the first of (too) many Spruance designs that have bubbled to the surface in my skull.  Just a lot of the electronics fit to finish, and then she's gravy in the dish.

Is this what you needed the Ikaras for?

Yeap, well for the type 381 ASW frigate, the other is earmarked for a Type 82 Bristol class destroyer.

Cheers
