Mixing a Bv 141 and a Fw 189, I made the twin-boom Bv 141F-4 (a long time ago, at
http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,8622.0.html ).
Today, I have found again discarded parts, and wondered: what to do with them?
Well, I will transform the last old realist ("JMN") model I wanted to what-if strongly: a LaGG-3, into a twin-boomer, asymmetric of course... ;D

Is that not an La-5?  ;D

I have a thing for Lavochkins, so I'll be watching this one with great interest

Tophe

Yes, you're right I think (1977 memories...), the LaGG-3 having in-line engine maybe. Sorry. And sorry to add such a monster in the Lavochkin family...

Have you seen the La-200 series? Or the La-250? "Monsters" are what Lavochkin is all about!  ;D

Tophe

Oh, with Google, I have seen yes, but this is lacking asymmetry. So I have created the La-35 (3+5) on my CGI topic

It is La-7  ;D . All versions of La-5 had an intake above the engine cowling (on the early versions it was a carburettor intake, on La-5FN it was engine suction intake). Instead of this, La-7 had engine suction intakes in wing roots. Also the oil cooler on La-5 was under the nose, while La-7 had it under the fuselage.

Here is La-5 as itself:

As you see, it has LaGG-3-style canopy.

Here is later version, the La-5F, in production line:

This is La-5FN:

And this is La-7:

Thanks Redstar72 for your analysis/investigation/expertise.
Sorry I have removed the "red stars" of this model, and Ivan Kojedub victories, this will be painted all sky-blue peacefully... I do not mean the Red Army was Evil, oh no, I just don't like nationalism and prefers Marx than Stalin or Bush, I prefer somehow Groucho Marx than Karl Marx ;D
Incredibly the propeller was rotating freely, I did not remember I had ever built something as real. Now I have discarded the blades and added much putty to create a "clean" glider nose... Lavochkin-zero maybe, then 0+141= 141 will be the twin-fuselage result...

Oh, it isn't investigation -_- . All this is common known among modellers and aviation fans here in the ex-USSR, but, as I can see, foreign modellers have some difficulties with this -_- . So I decided to make some explanations. I hope my info is interesting and useful.

Yes, thus I am a newbie on this site I already know your style of modelling. No trouble.
And sorry for stupid (maybe) question: who was (is) Groucho Marx?

I think the LaGG would be more suitable for this than radial-engined Lavochkins...  -_-

And here are my own visions of twin-fuselage Lavochkin-Zwilling and its asymmetrical derivative. I drew them yesterday. I tried to make them still Lavochkin-looking. It's my first attempt for "Whif".
What do you think about this?

This is interesting and useful as a very long Google Web search for us, yes, thanks again. While, uh... you know, realist modellers dislike us what-ifers very much, thus when we focus on realist details (like being one of them, for a moment), we are often feeling like "guilty" (a little), or... uncomfortable, somehow. It is good to know, but for us this is just the first step before dreaming...

Groucho Marx was the most famous of the Marx Brothers comics, a group of entertainers, comedians, making films and playing, as absurd as possible. This was in the 1930s. I don't know much their films, that was just a joke for me, running away from politics and violence ;D (I have been educated in the 1970s to kill Russians someday and I disliked this propaganda and hate on our side).

Of course, the LaGG would be better if I have to buy a box now to do it, but the situation is opposite: I have a realist La-7 and want to what-if it...

I LOVE your Lavochkin-Zwilling (Dvukh-Lavochkin?)! Thanks a lot! Delicious! Dear, that's a great "first attempt" in What-ifing. You probably see your way is much more solid than mine (with very solid central wing and tail), while mine was using more 'available' parts from usual production... All is good, differently. Thanks again!
(And I love your La-141, so harmonious and well-named, even if not twin-boom, I love the Bv-141 cousins as well as twin-boomers...) ;D

The double glider nose is taking shape... <_<
(but the picture is better than actual aspect, a lot of putty/sanding/repeat remains to be done)

Finished: the realist La-7 (killer that I was ashamed of) has been what-ifed into a La-141 twin-fuselage glider:
