Wow, the MiG 1.42 resemblance becomes really clear in that shot.

I've been saying that all along. Glad to know most members here are able to spot that ressemblance with MiG 1.44, instead of repeating the American "it's a copy of F-22" mantra.

I'm equally on the bandwagon of its resemblance to the MiG MFI/1.42/1.44 project, though admittedly it stops about halfway up from the tail of the aircraft.  It still has the canted tails with ventral fins, the twin engine config, the wing looks similar, and the general layout.  It has a rounder nose, the canards are swept a little more and lack the dogtooth, and it has side intakes instead of the chin intake of the MFI.  Anybody heard which company produced this prototype?  I'm curious to know that.

Whatever its pedigree, it's a good looking jet.  The PLAAF seem to be producing some very nice recent aircaft (JF-17, FBC-1, J-10, J-XX).

Thanks for sharing Henry.

Mmm, I see they still think white sidewall tyres look cool in a parade.  ;)

The digi-camo is interesting....
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

The digital camo is very cool, and a new standard on most of their vehicles.  I've seen whole parades full of it.  They also aren't the only ones who think whitewall tyres look good - I love that look on their vehicles.

On that last pic of the J-20, where it's just about to land, is that a parachute pack that's popped up out of the fuselage ahead of the engine nozzles?

I wonder if it isn't for spin testing.  I saw a similar setup on an F-22 photo at Avalon a few years back.

Chengdu Aircraft Industry make it according to Wiki, same as the J-10. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chengdu_J-20
And it seems to be called a Black Eagle. Very impressive looking airplane but the main gear doors seem like they may get squished in a heavy landing! The only bit that looks a bit F-22-ish to me is the nose/canopy as for the rest of it I'm in the MiG MFI/1.42/1.44 camp too.

Thats just a great example of that camouflage and a very sharp picture. Saving that one!
