If we leave the "American BAD, Japanese GOOD" stuff aside, this site has some over-gunned stuff.

I still like Kiev-type or Graf-Zeppelin-type configurations better, though, if we want to put big guns and aircraft capacity together in one ship.
To the individual soldiers, *everything* is a frontal assault!

Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

^ Yeah, baby!

Arleigh Burke Coast Guard helo carrier - for when you have to sink the drug-running speedboat, wreck its harbour, destroy the Patrón's villa, the coca fields and the cartel's airfields - all from the far side of the horizon, all at once!

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

I have to say I don't think the massive helipad serves well - there's just not enough hangar space present for it to really benefit as a DDGH.

Overkill? Nah, it's Insurance.  So are the 20" guns.

And don't forget, some of the druglords are now looking into submarines for drug transports, so ASW capability is needed, too!
My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

Cool.  Since it's only got one stack, maybe half the engines, so I could see a hangar below deck.

I just found that one, too. Great idea, though I agree the hangar could have been deeper to fit more helos.
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

The last year or so this board has been burning up with talk about the work of Chris Foss, with whom I am only passingly familiar.  Today I decided to peruse his website, and found all kinds of artistic goodness.  He's primarily known for spacecraft and scifi subjects, but I dug through his Portfolio and found this:

It looks like some kind of giant missile-armed battleship.

I found a very subtle whiff on modelwarships.com:

http://www.modelshipgallery.com/gallery/am/hms/albion-700-ds/ds-index.html

It's a 1/700 model of the British assault ship HMS Albion, but it was built for a customer, and for some reason they requested it built with Phalanx and NATO Sea Sparrow in place of the usual armament.
