Excellent work, especially on the Dornier Martin

It's really good to see Mike's legacy in safe hands

The Wooksta!

I'll be looking at restoring one of the other 559s at some point within the next 6 months, along with the 1121.

Nice work with each, Martin, and - as others have said - good to see Mike's builds being restored.

Maybe add pics of both to the Mike McEvoy Tribute Build thread?

I agree. It must be on display next week too.

Its been quite a while since I last finished a build. Looks like im going through an extended fallow period since over dosing on builds in 2020 and 2021.

So anyway, heres my first build of the year to reach compleation.

This is the AMP kit of the Sanger Silver bird "anti podal Bomber"built OOB, with the only additions being the swastikas.
Paint job was mostly Halfords rattle cans for the satin black and Audi aluminium the rest was mosly Lifecolor and/or Gunze.
The last pic has a Fw-190-D15 to show the size of this thing. Its not as big as it looks in the various artwork that does the rounds.
I always hope for the best.

Looking good Martin, lovely finish that's for sure

Interesting size comparison with the 190, must admit I thought it was far larger. Proves the old adage that you learn something new every day

Very smart, OGL

You're right, much smaller than box art suggests.

Like the post-war Federal Germany FW190D-15.  It's a concept that would look equally good in an NMF finish.

I very nearly bought a Takom Silbervogel, then put it on my Christmas list but missed out.  How's the AMP kit to build?  It definitely looks good built up.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

The Wooksta!

It's alreet, I s'pose, but captured markings would look so much better.

It does look good, but I do have to agree with the Wooksta/Lee about the captured markings, but which ones. Russian, Americsn, British. The latter with Winkle brown at the controls ?

French.  ;)

If I'd got hold of one, I'd envisioned it in US markings.  Possibly in a diorama of some kind.  Saying that, French markings are viable as Sänger worked with them post war and if the will was there, maybe they could have built it in the 50's.

Fame at last Martin ?

April's Phoenix Scale Aviation Modelling has a photo of your 73 Sqd Tucano on the IPMS pages. Taken at Nantwich, looks very good mate

For what is to all intents a short run kit, its not bad at all, not much if any in the way of locating pins and theres a lot of butt joins involved in the assembly.
I made a few mistakes in the contruction here and there, hopefully most are hidden out of view. But with a steady hand and plenty of time its can make a decent build.
For a possible comparison build Im toying with digging out one of the takon pair I picked up from Hannants at SMW last year.

For the markings choice, I went with OOB because I liked the scheme.
I don't have a problem with the choice despite my family's history. For those who don't know, there was a German Jewish branch to my paternal grand mothers family that disappeared between the mid 1930's and 1945.
We have no idea what realy happened to them. But no trace of any of them post war has been found yet. Its a good bet a concentration camp was involved though.
As an Irony, My Paternal Grand father worked for Kodak all his working life, even returning to his own desk during the war once he was in uniform. He was involved in processing the film footage of the liberation of Belson.

I have no issue with modern Germans, I lived in west Germany for 4 years in the 70's while dad was a combat engineer with the BAOR. I certainly don't blame them for what went on between 1933 and 45.
I also have no issue with using historically correct markings. To my mind hiding certain symbols because of their part in history is to deny history itself. To butcher a well known quote. "If we fail to learn from history's mistakes, we are damned to repeat them."
Of course. Others are entitled to disagree with my point of view. If we all slavishly followed the same view point we would be no better than the <insert your prefered historical boogey man here> were.
I always hope for the best.
