A little work in progress

I would agree with your view Martin, although captured markings do also add interest. I have struggled with my conscience to do Luftwaffe what-if items in my range, it does make me a bit uncomfortable about just how popular they are, but then again so does German WWII armor. Your AMP model looks great, I haven't looked at the Takom one but the CAD I've seen shows Space Shuttle style tiles on the underside, which is a bit iffy.

Hmm tiles? That might just fit one post war idea thats been floating around my head since picking up the takom kits. I can confirm that there are no moulded on tiles on the AMP kit.

Don't you mean "whiffy", Colin?

I'm totally opposed to the current "Das Reich ist das Beste!" BS but I do believe that genuine period markings are appropriate for period aircraft/armour/ships/etc., even whifs.

My father, who lived in an occupied country & fought the Nazi Germans as a resistance fighter, was opposed to the banning of the swastika (1) because it wasn't a purely Nazi device &, actually, had/has peaceful connotations in other cultures, and (2) because banning something always makes it more interesting to various fringe elements, hence the "Das Reich ist das Beste!" BS proponents.

I go along with him, he was a much smarter man than I.

I agree with you Guy .. yeah I'm half German but that's got nothing to do with this at all neither has it got anything to do with the fact my mum had family who fought against the Allies in WW2 ..dad to come to think of it but this is purely an accuracy thing for me .
If it's German and from WW2 it's gonna have the right markings .
My dad lost a large amount of family in the war to the Allies from bombing..that didn't stop him making me a Spitfire and a Hurricane when I was a kid complete with British markings.
Like you said mate the swastika is a symbol and it's been around for probably over a thousand years and it's been used by a heap of different peoples including the Japanese..Celts..Jews..Christians..Hindus even the Aztecs used their version of it  and there's more still.
The Germans took it as their symbol when in fact they just stole it from many other users who used it for centuries before.
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.

Bleedin ell! has it realy been 5 months since my last build?

Ok most of the following doesnt realy belong here. But its here as proof I havent stopped building.

Colonial Landrams from the original Battle star Galactica film/pilot episode.
These are 1/72nd 3d printed kits from Cozmic scale models. Both built OOB, but are awaiting what few decals they need.

72nd scale CVR(T) Sabre from Cromwell models. The Sabre is a Scimitar fitted with the slightly smaller Turret from retired CVR(W) Fox armored cars.
Built OOB and painted with Tamiya rattle can for the green and Lifecolor for the black and every thing else.

again 72nd scale. Ajax. the long overdue replacement for the CVR(T)'s. If they can get the damn things to work properly. This could end up as a canceled project if HMG cans it.
Again a Cromwell kit. Built OOB. And also a mix of Tamiya and life color for the paint job.

3d printed 72nd scale Trojan armored Engineer vehicle from Badger 3d creations. Ment realy for wargaming but looks the part. This consisted of 5 parts for assembly.
Again a mix of Tamiya and lifecolor for the paint job

Another badger 3d creations model. This time the Terrier Combat Engineer tractor. All be it this one is a compleat single part print.
Paint job as per the Trojan.

Last of the targets......

This is the Hippo BARV. This is what replaced the venrable Centurion BARV's. Based on a converted Leopard 1A5 hull. 8 of these beasts where built. 4 for the UK and 4 for the Dutch.
Another 3d print but this time from a chap in Poland I found on Etsy. Only 3 parts to assemble for this one. Paint work as per the Trojan and Terrier.

And now for something a little different................

The Takom 72nd scale Iowa class 16inch forward gun Turret. With turned steel aftermarket gun tubes from an outfit I found on ebay from China.
This thing was a paint magnet. The lighter haze grey was tamiya rattle can the rest was Gunze, and it soaked up a shed load of paint. There should be a fair bit of etch brass on this as well, but I just couldnt get it to work. So gave up and called it quits. otherwise a fairly easy build.........

And finaly to go with the Iowa class theme.

Takom 72nd scale 5inch/38 dual purpose mount. These are the secondary battery for the Iowa's and also the main gun armament on many mid-late war US navy Destroyers.
This kit was given to me by Geoff B (AKA Throvic on here) as it came as an extra in the Takom 1/700 scale Fletcher class Destroyer. Knowing I had the 16inch turret he felt I could give it a worthy home.
Only one shade of paint on this. Over all Tamiya Haze Grey.

I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

You built most of them at Freshwater

Nice to see them all finished, but you should really pose the Landrams next to Viper for context (well you have palpitaions if i mention the Colonial shuttle kit which carried them :o )

Okie dokie, two more targets. Both are 3d prints and still in 72nd scale.

This is the German/American MBT-70 in West German markings. Model from Badger Creations. Paint work Tamiya Modern Olive Drab with a mix of life color, Gunze and velljo for the rest.
Decals robed from a mix of revell 72nd scale post war german armor kits.

Next up a real odd ball.

This is the T10 Sherman mine roller. A project that never made it into service.

Model from PlayMoreIt3D (same guy as the Hippo BARV) on Etsy. Same basic paint work as the MBT-70 with the decals robbed from an Airfix sherman, whose tooling is likely a lot older than I am.

Never seen one of the T10s in 1/72 before... bizarre thing.
