One of my Harrier planed builds comes from the first set of Royal Thai Navy decals I bought which used a side view of a Sea Harrier for decal placement so I will be doing that useing an ESCI kit.

Here's a few that I'd planned on doing but long since abandoned:

GR1 Harriers refitted with the AI23 radars and Firestreaks/Red Tops from the scrapped Lightnings in the mid 70s and used as QRA in Germany - easy to hide in forest clearings.

Post Falklands - Sea Harriers bought to cheaply upgrade RAF Germany in a similar capacity.

They test-fired a MARTEL from a GR.1 that had a 'radar' nose on the original cockpit/front fuselage shape:

That Martel looks HUGE hung under the Harrier's wing.  :o

Could it VTO like that?

It shouldn't be that much bigger than a Sea Eagle.
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

Well the SHAR one was tested with twin Seaeagles..........The test bed was shot down in the 82 punchup. The Argies found the added fire controls in the wreckage and had a major panic attack thinking we had deployed the missile down south.........

Oh yes, so it was, thanks for reminding me.

It's mentioned in John Farley's 'A View From the Hover' book and the aircraft still had his scribbled notes aboard it when it was shuffled off to Yeovilton!

Indeed, it does look somewhat incongruous.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Captain Canada

Great stuff. I had to look a few times at the Harrier and then check the web lol.

I actually had a whole list written down about a bunch of builds here. Seems I missed a bunch during those periods where I have vanished !

Thanks for the Harriers pics as well. New to me !

That big radar nose photo is the first time I've seen that too ---- but a question, what is a DB Harrier ?

'Dunsfold Built' perhaps?

But more likely 'Development Batch' I think.

Development Batch, the easy way to spot them other than the serial numbers is the slightly flatter cockpit sides just in front of the engine intakes

Thanks Alastair   Looking at the photos again they look a bit stubby too, are they actually Kestrels? or something in between ? I've got a Heritage Aviation Kestrel which looks a bit like that. That would make the Martels look huge.

PR19_Kit

No, Kestrels had a different wing shape and a few other things too.

Kestrel on top, Harrier underneath.
