While hunting bits for my floaty thing I came across some wrecked kit bashes from the early eighties and decided to see if I could rebuild some of them. First up is a Light Anti-Grav Hopper made from an Airfix Bo105,  Hasegawa supplied tailplanes from an Mu2J and a MiG23 gun pack and from Matchbox I used the skids from the AH-1 Cobra and a couple of Matra pods. Not sure where the Pylons are from.

Pic of the wreckage.

Hopefully it'll look alright when I chuck it back together!

Hi Captain Canada, the kit first came out in 1979 and that's when I bought this one. I planned to finish it in a Civil mostly white scheme and, being crap at painting anything white, it was a mess! Then I used the wreck to test out bullet holes and other battle damage with drills and heated needles etc. Then I threw all these bits together as a quick Anti-grav for a wargame. I've got a few others somewhere in overall Coal Black that I fitted with a gun on one side and a rocket pod on the other.

Just checked the Airfix site and it isn't available at the moment, haven't seen one in a shop for a very long time.
I filled the bullet holes with Green Stuff.

Very neat.
I also have one of the Airfix kits in the bin.  Was doing a yellow and black PHI version which was coming out fine till I messed up the glass (glue stain inside).  Also got a Gazelle.  Wonder how those 2 kits would go together.

Decided to update the cockpit a bit instead of just slapping it together.

First Painting attempt, might be able to save. May need repaint.

After rubbing down all the filler there isn't much left of the paint job so I'm not sure what sheme it will turn up in Cobra but USCM could be in the running!

Give it a bath in Fairy Power Spray.

i can see the concept and it reminds me of a Peter Elson painting.

I splatted some Citadel Kommando Khaki over it as a primer, still not sure what colour it'll be at the end. Here's a pic of the panel installed and repainted. It actually looks better to the naked eye than the pic shows, honest!

Might add a shroud from thin plasticard. I'm trying to cut up some polythene Esci figures to sit in the back, nothing seems to stick the bits together too well. Using PVA to, hopefully, hold them together long enough to use them in piccies.
Love Peter Elson's paintings too! Top grade artist, think all I have are a couple the Terran Trade Authority books with some of his stuff in them

The one I'm thinking of is in Great Space Battles.

See your PM about an Airfix Bo 105 too!

I've painted it up a bit with Catachan Green and Fortress Grey plus I made up a FLIR ball from some scrap sprue and stuck it on a boom (pitot tube? though it is a bit thick!).
Still haven't decided on any markings but I'm leaning towards USA, Canada or Finnish coz I have some small enough to fit from those countries.

Nice little piece, certainly an interesting subject.  The camo looks good too.

Thanks Sauragnmon, forgot to post the underside shot.

Now that thing looks cool! Like something right out of a sci-fi film or computer game!
