Final pics of the Habakkuk have been posted in Post # 413 further above if you haven't seen them yet, Mossie. Let me know what you think. ;)
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

How did I miss the big black 'DONE'!?!?!    Sorry, had an enforced holiday from the forum due to virus problems, I'd happily strangle these &£%$% who do this kind of thing.

Absolutely fantastic!  I'm glad you've ground it out, the world needed a Habbakuk model.  It's nice to see a mix of British of US planes on the deck.  I'm really happy you've stuck with it, it's something I'd like to do but having never modelled a ship before I'm not likely to get around to it anytime soon.  Seeing somebody elses model is good enough for me!

Just a thought, it might be worth submitting some pictures of your model for the Wikipedia entry on Habbakuk?

Looking forward to your next project, CVA-58 maybe for something a little smaller???  ;D  ;D
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Go for it, Mossie! What've you got to lose? I'd love to see somebody try and tackle a 6 foot long 1/350 scale Habakkuk. That would be freakin huge and awesome!   ;D  ;D  ;D
Wikipedia? Uh....not likely. Although I am in the planning stages of writing something up for FSM magazine this summer. And my next projects will be a few smaller models. The next big project is another Montana battleship and it won't be started till late this year maybe.

FINAL THOUGHTS?

Before I ride off into the sunset as it were, I'm planning to take my Habakkuk model to perhaps one final contest this weekend before I retire it from future competition.
So I'm wondering.......What final additions, deletions, etc. should I do to the model before the contest and/or final retirement? Anybody got any suggestions? Final pics can be found here:

Well, you never know, I'm starting to develop soggy feet.  I've got the Cyber Hobby LCS-2 in front of me at the moment, I started it late last year but never got around to finishing it.  I'm thinking of doing it oob but in the camouflage scheme seen in the concept CGI.  I'm diversifying my interests from just aircraft & I'm very much thinking of an unbuilt project for the ship GB since I accidently stumbled over a suitable base kit for it a few days back.  Habbakuk???  Maybe, but it it'll be some time away!

Seadude, you have a great accomplishment to your credit. Your modeling abilities got challenged and s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d, and your patience was duly tested. You prevailed. Despite any criticisms I have expressed during the building process, the final product is one of which you can be justly proud.
My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

It appears to be up on the Modelwarship.com gallery. Let me know what you guys think: Opinions, Suggestions, Tips, and even Critisisims.

Just curious, but.........If it were possible for me to do so, then how many people here would be interested in seeing me try to build a complete interior cross-section in 1/700 scale of the ENTIRE length of a Habakkuk, showing all the interior hangars, crew spaces, engineering areas, etc., etc.? I'm not sure what materials I'd need, but styrofoam and Evergreen plastic sheet are the two main ones.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Yeah, I just may need that! I must be truly crazy for thinking up such a insane idea.

Anybody got any good hints, tips, suggestions, etc. for construction and materials advice? Unfortuneately, the only decent references I have are from an old article by William J. Wallace on the Habakkuk which showed these pages/diagrams.

..........and also this old photo/artist sketch:

The blueprints/sketches don't show a lot of detail, so I guess I can use "creative freedom" wherever possible, but I would still want the cross-section to be "technically believeable".

Seadude,
the mere fact that your Alpha rhythms are suggesting this says that you will do it, even if it is only to quieten down your brain waves.
Get on with it   :drink:

My sincere apologies for gravedigging a thread over a year old.

It has come to my attention that some folks could no longer read this entire thread anymore as the majority of links/pics I had were broken. I deeply apologise for this. Last year, I decided to move a lot of my modeling pics to a new PB account. As the 2012 holiday season got closer, I could no longer find the time to go back and correct this thread from beginning to end. Now that January is here and I have more free time, I can come back and do some much needed fixing. As strange as this may sound, I am starting on Page 29 of this thread and working my way backwords fixing things as I go. I don't know how long it will take me to fix everything as it is hard for me to remember what links/pics were used for every post I wrote. Suffice to say, I hope to have this thread completely fixed by the end of Feb.

Sorry for any inconvenience.
