Thought I'd share some of the past ship WHIF's I've done in previous years. Hope you enjoy. If you have any questions, then feel free to post and I'll answer as best I can.

1/350 USS New Jersey nuclear powered BB.

1/350 STEALTH CGX Strike Cruiser

More to come........
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

1/48 Seabat underwater submersible attack craft. Converted from a Ho229 aircraft. Looks remarkably like a manta ray sea creature, eh?

1/350 FedEx Ticonderoga cruiser.

The shark mouth and eyes for the Seabat came from aircraft kits. The markings on the support stand came from a pinewood derby car decal sheet IIRC? The black "missiles" under the wings are actually what I prefer to call "ORCA Class" stealth torpedos. ;)
The letters for the FedEx cruiser came from an office supply letter sheet.

I may update the CGX stealth cruiser by adding another radar mast and some other small improvements. But that won't be for quite a long time yet as I'm currently busy with other stuff.

I do have to admit, I loved watching you build your Monty, she's a beautiful monster of a build.

The Fed Ex CG is equally cool looking, and I have to admit, your CGX looks neat.

Is there a build thread for the Montana? What kits did you use? The Cruise missile launching in the first pic is great along with the manta underwater fighter  Thank you for sharing these

There's a few Montana builds underway over at Modelwarships, you can find the threads here:

Seadude, aka EJM, was one of the major builders, and he worked at 1/350, avoiding the nightmare of a kit that is the Yankee Modelworks 350 Montana.

Check the link that Saur posted. ;) The only kits I used were 1-2 1/350 TAMIYA Missouri kits to rob extra guns and other parts from. That ship was a pain in the rump to build.  :banghead: It took me 5 years to build that, though the first two years were research and planning. But I'm quite happy with that ship, and so is my best friend that I gave the ship to since he loves the Montana. The Montana has been my best work in all the years that I've been building models. :)

QuoteEJM? Um, those are my initials??

Does your real name use EJM also?  I'm from Wisconsin in the U.S.

The only other pics I have are of a Tamiya 1/350 Bismarck model. But that ship was built straight from the box for my best friend, so I won't bother showing it here since it's not a WHIF. My future naval projects are the following:
1. 1/350 Tamiya Enterprise carrier made into a stealth aircraft carrier. I plan to add VLS at all of the weapon sponsons and also rob parts from a Arleigh Burke destroyer kit to reconfigure the island superstructure to be more stealth-like.
2. I also have a secondary Arleigh Burke kit that I want to modify by adding a second 5" somewhere near the back of the ship, and then move the Harpoon launchers toward the middle, and also add Nuka decoy launchers somewhere.
3. Build another 1/350 Montana battleship. Though this one will be as the ship was originally designed with the boat cranes and boats amidships. I've got a North Carolina kit to rob extra parts from.
4. Buy another 1/350 modern Tamiya New Jersey kit and make that into another WHIF battleship. Though I'm not sure what details I'll add yet.

Captain Canada

Nice work....I love big warships, and big warship models !

The New Jersey is a real beauty. Love the black masts. Also dig the painting you did on the CGX launvchers...nice touch !

The FedEx boat is pretty funny as well. Keep up the great work !

I remember hearing you cursing as you worked on some of the finer details of your Monty, Seadude, but hey, she worked out quite well.  I *Eventually* want to do a Montana, but ahead of that, I think, I've got plans to do a TillMax IV-2 based concept, similar to the Oklahoma that guy did way back when.  That one'll require some surgery to do, but I already have the 18/47 MkA guns for the main battery.

Still, looking forward to seeing you continue with your madness - welcome to the party, Seadude.

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.
