What about using her for the land speed record? Reduce the wings, replace the tyres with solids. Similar to the F-104 land speed rocket car.

What about reece work? It's sort of what they're for anyway.

Pull out the weapons bay doors and plug in a mission specific pallate into that area. You could have pallates for mapping, environmental survey, customs and fisheries controls. Whatever you needed it for you could have a pallate to swap out.

The Phalcon type AWACS arrangement has already been mentioned, make a pallate for that.

Make a multi mission pallate to cover civil reece work like the above mentioned environmental and customs survey and control.

It would open the door to some potentially colourful civil paint jobs for it.

Meterological recce? The replacement for the "Snoopy" C-130 was the RJ-based ARA, but what if it was a Nimrod instead?

whilst my neighbours are away at work drop one into their back garden, I don't mind the wings overhanging my garden, just to see the look on their faces, will be priceless. ;D

Water bomber

Like that idea.  Evergreen have been touting the 747 for a few years as a 'super tanker', the Nimrod would fit into this role nicely.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Hi JayBee,
The waterbomber has been talked about before and is mentioned in waterbomber/air tanker alternatives. If I could convince the RAF to take me up on this offer, then the forest fires in Greece and the States would be out by now.

Sorta begs for the question, why use a heavy subsonic airliner based aircraft to break a record set by a purpose built supersonic vehicle powered by 2 RR Speys?

Aw, shucks!
OK how about making it an airliner? LoL!  ;D

low altitude race planes. Whipping around in canyons and fijords, they could be England's race team verses the US Orions, and what ever the Russians use. Kind of like the old warbird races but add an element of danger like rock walls or perhaps... have them race through large downtown areas with a max altitude of 100 feet! Weee talk about fun!

On the restaurant idea, why limit it to wingless non-flying. Dinner flights with scenic views (larger windows) as the sun sets and serve a five course meal for a limited wealthy groups. You could install a nice kitchen over the wing area where the view would suck, and have about 8 to 10 tables.

Think thats the best Idea I've heard yet! Stuff some jet-skies or snow mobiles in the weaps bay, with room for the retractable stripper pole ala Iron Man, party lighting in the fwd cabin plus a hottub or ample sized bed in the aft . . .

The Nimrod would make an ideal private plane for the Queens' Flight or a Presidential aircraft in the VVIP role.
Thinking out-of-the-box what about a jet-train? I know this was tried before and failed due to the braking system. It's a bit like adding a JATO or RATO to your car, the acceleration is great, but stopping is always going to hurt.
