If Monogram's 1/48 Kingfisher was back in production, I'd get two of them and use the 2 too narrow floats under a Classic Airframes Curtiss Hawk P-6E.

I'd have numerous ideas for a couple of projects for it, ....

... if Monogram's 1/72 F-16 XL was back in production.
... if Italeri's 1/72 V-22 Osprey was back in production.
... if Airfix' 1/72 TSR.2 was back in production.
... if Italeri's YF-23 was back in production.
Cheers,
Moritz

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Aurora's 1/600 USS Guadalcancal, USS Bainbridge, USS St Paul and USS Enterprise were back in production and in a decent plastic then the 1/600 ship range would still be a valid scale to continue using  :banghead:

Does it have to be a kit? I'd prefer the prices of 40 years ago instead.

I'm with Moritz on the 16XL and YF-23.  I could hurt somebody for pulling both the Italeri and the DML ones off the lines.  Seriously! ARGH!  I'd Love to do a pair of YF-23's, one in Wizard markings, one in JASDF service.  16XL, I don't know what markings, but I'd just love to build one in general!

I wouldn't mind if Skywave/Pit-road still produced their E-4 set for Modern European Weapons.  Seriously, I would frackin LOVE that.  Not likely though. *flips the bird at DML for buying the molds and not producing E-4*  If I could get that, I can think of a few ships I'd love to upgrade with the bits to be had there.

If IHP could manage to be big enough to keep the full Cherry Tree line under production I'd be grateful.  Montana, G-3, #13 especially.  If they got turned to injection I'd be really happy (and wondering who slipped me the good drugs).

If Airfix or one of the other kit manufactures could do a maritime theme and have the 1:72 scale of the Nimrod MK2, P-3 Orion with the Canadian decals to make the CP-140 and the Atlantic.

If Heller could re-release their Mirage IV in 1:72 and update the 1:48 scale.

If Revel could release the Shackleton in all the different marks in 1:72 scale.

If Airfix could do their RAF Launch in 1:48 or even 1:24 scale.

If Airfix could retool their tank transporter, I might be able to finish the tractor unit.

If there was  a 1:72 scale of the YF-25.

Bungle

I'd like Airfix to bring back the SAM Missile kit. Probably buy two or four, dump the truck, trailer and launcher and think of a way to string those babies under a TU-22, TU-16, Lancaster.... anything. How big would the wingtip launchers need to be  on a Flagon or Fulcrum ?

YF-25? What are you referring to?

Airfix 1:72 TSR2. They'd make money hand over fist!
Revell 1:72 Starfury from Babylon 5.
Italeri or Dragon 1:72 YF-23

There are plenty of others, but those will do for a start.

I'd like a kit, ANY kit (I believe there was a Lindberg one) of the XF-91 Thunderceptor to be back in production, so I could make a model of any/all of these:

The rest of the Lindbergh '50s jets have been re-released so its probably only a matter of time for the XF-91.

Hmm?
Airfix ov-10 NOGS gunship version, I would have several of those, Hasegawa armed version of the Grumman mohawk.Italeri SR-75 and thunderdart would be nice, or the thunderdart on its own so I could have a squadron of them
I will probably think of something else.

Yes but what you don't realise young man is that wages were far, far lower as well. I started work 40 years or so ago and was earning £6.50 a week (kept my first pay slip) so approx 7.30 Euro's a week ! It's all relative and you have far, far more to choose from now  ;D It's almost impossible to make a fair assesment as to the relative costs of model building (or anything else for that matter) over the years as it's moved around so much as economic crisis have come and gone. Best way is to ask yourself how long you have to work to pay for an item over time and the answers will often suprise. Even then you have to factor in your increase in wages as you progressed in your chosen employment  :banghead: - bring back Ted Heath and the "automatic" monthly pay rise I say

As I always say I'd like to be 18 again with what I now have in my brain (about women - very little  :banghead:) and with what I now have in my back pocket  ;D
