That and Airfix brought theirs out which was vastly superior.

The only reason the Special Hobby F22 is better than Xtrakit's is that the former has a lot of spare bits for other late aircraft but it's got the same flaws - short, fat fuselage and dodgy wing shape.  Plus the fit is iffy.  Really wish I've bought none of them, Special Hobby and Xtrakit.

a few days after KP Models announced a 1/72 injection mould version of the SIAI SF-260 Marchetti,
Special Hobby just announced they are doing the same thing, <...>

What are the odds? :banghead:
Couldn't one of them have gone for a Pilatus PC-7 or PC-9 instead?

Five will get you ten that it's the same kit under different labelling. Those Czech guys do that all the time.

No, you'll lose your bet.

It'll be a different kit.  SH and AZ/KP don't like each other, the former regard the latter with little more than contempt.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I got more than an inkling of that in a chat I had with the AZ guys at Telford last year. I thought at first it was just natural competitiveness, but it goes deeper than that for some reason.

Probably because AZZ are regarded as pirates.  A lot of the bits in various kits - the Spitfires especially - are somewhat similar (ie identical) to parts in other kits.  I can go through the Spitfires and name which kit various pieces have originated from.

That's always happened in the model industry though Lee, especially among "start-ups", but yes you are right regarding some of AZ's early stuff in particular. Possibly why they don't get to many build reviews in the modelling press ?

As I've said before though, their 109's seem to be a completely different animal ?

I think it's highly likely that the SH boys have had their work copied by AZ at some point.  Don't forget that CMR have a tie in with SH at some point and both the AZ Spiteful, Seafang and Attackers bear a distinct similarity to the CMR ones.

I can't speak for the 109s as I've not got one but it wouldn't surprise me if there's not parts copied from the Fine Molds kits, largely regarded as the best in scale, and the Hasegawa, Academy and Tamiya kits.

About time too.

I've been waiting for them to re-pop that for some time. I have a Whiffed prone pilot ********** waiting for it for some time as I need a canopy for the build!

1/72 Tachikawa Ki-54 Hei, new tool.

1/72 Fw-189B-0/B-1 (ex-Condor).  Trainer variant with stepped nose, might be useful kitbash fodder.

1/72 British Post war underwing armament.  Two bombs and 4 pairs of 60lb RP's, suitable  for late war and immediate postwar types, appears to be taken from the Seafire FR.47 kit.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

That could be quite useful, although I'm wondering how many spares of the dual mounted rockets I might already have?

One thing, looking at the sprues, there doesn't appear to be any mount for the rockets to attach to the wings of an aircraft? Which is a bit of a shame really?
Oh to be whiffing again :-(

Just read through the earlier comments regarding the Xtrakit and SH F.22 kits and i'm a bit disappointed as i bought the Xtrakit a couple of days ago. If the kit is so flawed, it's perfect for what i have in mind and i will use it instead of the Airfix i have in the stash, which i thought was worse than the Xtrakit...I just need a few bits of that kit and for the price i paid for it, i think it's more than good enough for what i have in mind.

I agree, those have been overlooked by the factories, i don't know of any kits of the two you mentioned. I'd love to build a PC-9 in Portuguese air force academy markings used on the TB-30 but maybe i'll go with the PC-21.
