I've considered doing a 1980s Essex, and am impressed with your interpretation, and with all your ideas!  :thumbsup:
I also really like you tried something other than a CV or a BB. I do think the smaller ships are a neglected area of whiffery.

I also see you have a Sumner hiding in the background.
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

All the builds are awesome!  I like especially what you did with the SoDa.  I'm pulling out hair trying to figure out what I want to do with mine.  :)

I thought of a modernized SoDak too - I was considering fitting her as an AAW Battleship, with the upper 5" mounts replaced with Mk13's, and with better guns on the lower positions, and then doing some other mean and twisted things to her that I haven't fully conceived yet.
Putty-fu, Scratch-jutsu and Bash-chi, the sacred martial arts of the What-If. Mastering them, is Ancient Chinese Secret.

Just your friendly neighbourhood Mad Scientist and Ship-whiffer.

Overkill? Nah, it's Insurance.  So are the 20" guns.
