I have often wondered if the Marines on South Georgia had put 2-3 more 84mm rounds into the Guericco. Or if one had detonated on an exocet canister?

They would not have been carrying an Exocet on the sub.

Gondor

Gureicco was the Corvette they sent into the harbour with the invasion force one of the French A69 class built for South Africa but sold onto Argentina when sanctions hit. It was hit by small arms fire from the Endurance RM party sent to defend the Island as they also manged to down a Puma at the same time.

Santa Fe was the Guppy class sub damaged by the Wessexs (Humphrey) and Wasp helicopters from the liberation force in Operation Paraquat some weeks later

I'm sure I read somewhere that a large Argentine ship that ventured into the bay was holed by either the 84 or a LAW....also a good few hundred rounds of 7.62mm......
BODY,BODY....HEAD..!!!!

IF YER HIT, YER DEAD!!!!

Americans are introducing the M3 at platoon level......British definitely made the wrong decision in the 90's

We may follow suit as well apparently although as a replacement to the 60mm mortar, as part of the policy to reduce the excessive loads being carried. All very well and nice to have a direct fire weapon with a punch, but they will need to increase the indirect fire options at a higher level to maintain fire support !

interesting in my day we had the 2in mortar, the 84 and the GPMG all in the platoon. Yes the sections got the minimi and the UGL. Though I hear the school of infantry are pushing for the minimi to go and revert back to the LSW  :banghead:

Captain Canada

Interesting info and nice to see the difference between the practice shots and the real deal. We used to find bits of the expendable type of 'bazooka' all over Camp Borden as kids. Wish we would have kept some !

Hm, seven acronyms in only four paragraphs. Not bad going, even for an American press release........  ;D

I used to deal with ICR BCs drawn in HKD under DCMANs with HSBCKOW...

Strictly speaking those are initialisations not acronyms...

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

To be fair there's not much wrong with the LSW, if it's used properly. Unfortunately it isn't ally enough so it just became the Crow Cannon and very few people (in the entire Army) ever bothered themselves to learn/teach how it should be used.

It's not a replacement for the Minimi or the General but, if used properly, it is a useful support weapon.
