I've got a Richielieu, but I have to say, my plan for her is far different from a modernization one - but it would be a very tempting job to do to a Jean Bart.  Maybe.  Who knows.

^ Modernized Richelieu would rock! BIG TIME! Beautiful ships.

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

I'm actually thinking a little different, Moritz - Heresy, German Style this time.  gonna Germanize my Richie.

Ketzerei!  What have you got in mind? Captured in a port during the war, refitted and pressed into Kriegsmarine service?
Cheers,
Moritz

Jawohl, mein freund - I plan on refitting her with Krupp main and secondary barrels and the 10.5cm tertiary guns - keeping the Bofors as the Kriegsmarine used them (and I have no supply for the singles) and putting in Flakvierlings instead of those Inefficient Oerlikon Galleries.

How about building both Richelieu rebuilt by the US and Jean Bart as completed by the Germans!

Richelieu - 6 x 16" (two main turrets originally meant for USS Illinois), 6" triples from a Cleveland converted to a CVL, 3" AAs, and the usual 40mm and 20mm.

Jean Bart - 4 French 15" and 4 German 15" salvaged from Tirpitz, 150mm and 105mm, light AA
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

No pics yet, things have been...interesting lately.

The wife and I have been condo hunting, and we put in a bid, but we didn't get it.  :(  In the interim, the airbrush arrived, but I'm still waiting on the hood.  I also got some of the last models, and I converted a Rudderow as part of "Martillo de grupo de trabajo" or maybe "Martillo de destacamento especial " *I think they are both actually incorrect for Task Force Hammer*

I have a CVE that's going to be ASW orientied with 2 Rudderow escorts that have been refit with  2x3 Torpedos Tubes, ASROC, 2x20mm, 2x5" and a datalink back to the carrier and her copters.

And things come to a screeching halt.

Good reasons though, we got a place!  So the grand epic journey of packing begins.  If all goes as currently planned, we close on the 18th, and move on 19th.  Roughly a month to get everything packed up and ready to go.  The new place will have a dedicated craft room for my models and the wife's sewing/knitting.  Honestly, don;t expect much until after Christmas at this point.

Which is REALLY a shame as I finally bit the bullet and glued the flight deck Spruance together.  She's just waiting on paint.

If I get a little lucky, I may have her done by the end of the year, which would be nice.  Completing something would be a welcome change.  ;)

Sauragnmon

Sounds like you're making progress elsewhere, which is the important thing as much as your hobbies are, man.  Good to hear you guys found a place, looking forward to seeing some stuff get hit with the paint.

Great ships!

If you ever want to make some $$$- let me know- I'd love to have a Flight Deck Spru can!!!!

Love the lot of ideas behind your unfinished navy!
Will die without understanding this world.

*dusts off thread a bit*

Thanks guys!  The shipyard is due to reopen full bore in August, after the SCW GB is over, and I finally have most of it out of my system.

I'm posting though because I have ideas...

The idea is to get a 1/700 skycrane from WEM, build it some pallets, and put it on the Flight Deck Spruance along with it's special Air Force interceptor detachment.  Stationed in the Gulf, the air wing would look something like this:

2 x F-104V ("On loan" to the Coast Guard as part of the war on drugs)
1 x CH-54S Variable Pallet Rescue Helicopter (And yes, as per the idea thread, I am thinking of painting it green, and putting a 2 on the side)
2 x HH-60J JayHawks
2 x Bell Eagle Eye Tilt Riotor UAV's

Thoughts?

Yeah, wanna see, yet its a "Oh, GOD, what drugs were they on?!" NO!

LOL!

I'm one to talk about unfinished projects.  Whatever you build, I'll enjoy it.

*Dusts off thread and looks around a bit.*

Right.

Okay, now in the works:
1/400 Typhoon scale-o-ramaed to 1/700 because at times anthonyp and I share the same brain.
1/600 HMS Ajax scale-o-ramaed to 1/700 as a Type 43 style super destroyer.
1/700 HMS Exeter to be properly fitted out in modern sensors and what not.
Pretty much everything you saw in the thread already.

And...

Project One: The Ghost Fleet.  Pics and details hopefully tomorrow or once I get my brother-in-law to do some translation for me.

Project Two: Stealth Force One.  What happens when you upgrade a couple of LCS (Indy's) with some real weapons, and then add then to the other LCS, some DDG-1000's and a Stealth carrier?

Project Three: Heh.  This one makes me giggle.  It should probably be in the Sci-fi section.  It requires blimps.  And carriers.  And it makes my battleship with wings look sane.

proditor

Crap, totally forgot the Hybrid Richelieu.  Heck, that even has putty on it already!  Pics tomorrow, promise.
