Proditor,

Finish some stuff already! Then you'll have an excuse to go buy some more.  ;D
And don't stop inventing!

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

And now, pictures.

First off, the Richelieu as a hybrid.  Still very much under construction.

Next up, the Ghost Fleet.  Sort of a nation specific "Never retired" mini-gb.  ;)

Seaplane tender

Helicopter Carrier

Aircraft carrying Submarine

And of course, the Battleship

There is one more surprise in the wings.  But I'll save that for later as it involves a ton of cutting.

Japanese ships?  If so, NICE!!!!

I love the BBV Richelieu, btw!  Very nice!

1/400 Typhoon scale-o-ramaed to 1/700 because at times anthonyp and I share the same brain.

Whatdya mean "At times?"  We've had the same brain on some builds for years  ;D

You need to finish this, along with taking pics of Projects II and III.

Love the Richelieu Hybrid and i suppose you now have the Secondary armament to use esle where   ;).

Interesting take with the I-400, although it might be better carrying Loon or Regulus as an early cruise missile sub

Like the updated IJN cruiser cross kitted with the Shirane DDH, which Cruiser hull is it ? Just think what you can do with these IJN crusiers when the CyberHobby Albany is released as then you'll be able to cross kit 60's style Macks, radars and missile with IJN crusier hulls.

Looking forward to seeing further updates

Awesome work! Especially the hybrid Richelieu.

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Thanks guys!

Question answering time.

Yes, the Ghost Fleet is a series of IJN warships refit originally to check a far more aggressive soviet expansion post ww2, then maintained as a source of national pride into the nearly modern day.

I like the idea of the loon for the i-400, though folding wing skyhawks have a really twisted appeal.  Anyone make 1/700 v-1's?

The Cruiser is the IJN Mogami.  I sanded the seaplane tracks flat and then basically transfered the Shirane upper works wholesale.  It fit beautifully imho.

I have some macks from the ddg 170, I just ran out of IJN hulls to modernize.  Heh.  I'm thinking of finding a nice light cruiser and adding it to the fleet.

As to the Richelieu, I've been wanting to do one since the kit came out, but I was intimidated by the flight deck and hanger walls.  After making those for the Spruance, I was dreading all of the long straight cuts and fiddly bits.  Then I was looking through the stash and spied the old 1/720 USS Intrepid, and a star was born.  Oh, and the bridge was donated by the Airfix Ark Royal, suitably franco-phied (just go with it...) by adding the mack assembly.

Too bad the Nichimo "1/800" Phase II Iowa Thing isn't more available.  I'd like to see who the aft flight deck might fit on a Richelieu.  That might fit nicely.  I know it does on a South Dakota (see JoeP's Missile Iowa thread for a pic or three).

Picked up a Fujimi Tama.  Already sanded the crap out of it while watching Hawaii 5-0.  :)

Round one putty is done, and I started building the superstructure from a DDG 169 kit.  Tama is going to be MASSIVELY rebuilt.

Have you made any progress on the Spruance carrier you showed early on in this thread?

proditor

I looked at it longingly for a while yesterday.  ;)

That's on my plan to revisit this weekend, as really, it's just down to paint and airwing at this point.  Everything else is nailed down and set.

GTX

Love that Richelieu hybrid - what aircraft would it operate?

Greg
All hail the God of Frustration!!!

proditor

Well, the deck is kinda short, and the hanger is not particularly capacious.  I'm currently thinking of making it almost a self-protecting shore bombardment ship.  The tentative air wing is loaned Wildcats as Fighter/Bombers.
