Northrop N-156 can be done from a F-5

Northrop Fang is under viability study

Nose intake Draken is even easier
Will die without understanding this world.

When and if, I have some more "free" time there are few projects I'd like to do...

To Finish
1/48 RCN A-4F Skyhawk (w/ all the modernization goodies)
1/48 Irish Air Corps Mirage IIIE (pre-modernization)
1/48 Irish Air Corps Mirage IIIE (post-modernization)

In my imagination
1/48 Texas Navy A-4M (modernized)
1/48 Texas Navy F-14D (modernized)
1/48 Texas Navy A-7F (modernized)
1/48 Texas Air Corps OV-10D+ (modernized)
1/48 USAF AF-61K Black Widow (heavily modified Vietnam-era COIN/gunship)
1/350 Alaska-class CB (post-modernization hybrid CB/CSGN)
1/350 Montana-class BB (post-modernization hybrid BBG/CVN)

Actually, the proposed naval N-156T variant was rejected for too high a landing speed.  Northrop's final proposed derivative was the N-285B with larger, and slightly more swept wings with leading edge slats and full-span flaps as well as a raised second seat for better instructor visibility on carrier approach.  As to the Draken, I still want to do one with Fieri inlets, an engine upgrade, and various other improvements.

I know it's an old one, and been done before, but I fancy a twin Starfighter, done with the second fuselage as a recon pod with a load of camera gear in place of the second cockpit...don't know about the colours yet though...maybe Vietnam era?...any suggestions...

It's a big, wide world out there...so if it's all the same to you I'll just stay indoors!

How about German Marine colors, dark grey uppers and light grey lowers?

And a thumping great anti-ship missile under the centre-section?

Hmmm...
Might have to get a 104 kit and make it an anti ship missile.

Think I suggested elsewhere making the 1/144th Starfighter into a missile to hang under a 1/72nd or 1/48th carrier.

Nice Greg, see my comments there.

I think just converting the 72nd scale version would work, much like the Russian missiles look like full size Migs.

Now, what markings would look good on this and which delivery vehicle?  Probably a Buff could carry 1 or 2 but what else in the US inventory?

For an air-dropped one, you'd probably want to modify the tail arrangement. A vertical fin can be folded or even accomodated in a modified bomb bay, but a T-tail makes it much trickier. I fancied an X-tail with two cut-down F-104 dorsal fins at 45 deg. and two of the ventral strakes mirroring them below.

I had no idea that a zwillinged F-104 can be asthetically acceptable...... excellent imaginations!

That second fuselage can accommdate a LOROP camera probably without resorting to the over-elongated nose as on ROCAF RF-104Gs  ;D......
To the individual soldiers, *everything* is a frontal assault!
