I hope that thing's got a low center of gravity.  I'd hate to be crewing one if it was knocked over somehow.

Or even if it went across a mild slope...

Heh - now there's a more general idea in that: "tank" versions of ancient weapons:

Armoured Ballista: a tracked chassis with a big arm that throws aircraft bombs

Armored Chariot: a form of armoured car that has all the crew and weapons on a rear section with two big wheels, towed by a power section with two V-12s and four small wheels....

Cool stuff. maybe the siege tower-type vehicle would have a gimballed track section, so the tower itself remained upright (assisted by some suitably hefty gyroscopes, of course) while the tracks tilted with the terrain? As long as it could maintain traction it could basically go anywhere.

I think I've finally figured out what I'm going to do with that Yamato battleship kit I have which I explained here:
https://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php?topic=53317.0

Now the question is: Do I just plop the whole hull down on top of two tank chassis?
Or do I rebuild the hull of the ship or even the tank chassis itself?
And what scale or type of tank chassis should I buy? I'll need at least two.
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

Four tank chassis, if not six. Large enough

4 to 6? Are you sure? What scale?
The Yamato hull is about 29 1/2 inches long x 4 1/2 inches wide.

Steel Penguin

a 1:35 Chieftain hull top is 8 inches from mud guard to back and smidge under 4 inches wide so possibly one at the front under the bow  and 1 each side at the rear in a trike style

You could chop part of the bow off. On some ships it wasn't really armored and was pretty much storage. Put on a sloping front plate and more guns!

Also part of the reserve buoyancy scheme (same with the fantail).

Shame there are no 1/35 TOG II* kits about.  It'd be perfect for this exercise in madness.

A little width might help with keeping it upright when the ground isn't totally flat.

kerick

Considering the scale of the ship several 1/72 tank hulls might look better. Of course this would have to be on a base crushing some village!

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

2x Meng Char 2C kits might provide a similar look. The kits oop at the moment, finding two for a reasonable price might be tricky. 2x or 3x Whippet Mark A tanks would provide smaller tracks.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.
