tigercat2

Tigercats (F-65) for close air support; how about surplus T-33s, F-89s, F-94s packed with explosives and remotely flown into NVN bridges.

It's a big, wide world out there...so if it's all the same to you I'll just stay indoors!

Zeke,

Your Tigercat is superb!!  What kit is this?

Sorry, nearly missed this one...it's the old AMT/ERTL 1:48 kit...with a few teaks to give it the Vietnam kind of look.
Italeri re-released it a little while back.

Cavalier Mustangs would've been nice :)

How do you know the RR Dart powered ones weren't?

F-4U Corsairs - USAF or RVNAF

F-82 Twin Mustang USAF or RVANAF either ground attack or Night interdiction with AC-47 and AC-119 early in the war

F-2H2 Banshee - Ground attack for the Marines armed with the usuual Vietnam era weapons

F-94A/B armed with 4X 20mm guns wings modified to have at least two hardpoints for rockets or bombs underneath.

Fiat G-91- Modified with two 20mm guns and bigger landing gear to be able to use unpreppared airstrips. USAF/US ARMY/ RVNAF service

OV-10 US ARMY - I know the Bronco was in Vietnam but the Army could have used them to escort Hueys rather then have Bell build a Helicopter gunship. Arm it as usual and you would have just as much punch as a AH-1

P/F-61 Black Widow - Night intediction and ground attack. Also with the various gunships used during the war or as helicopter escorts for the Hueys.

Geoff

I think the Gina was equiped to use unprepared strips.

And it had a twin 30mm option (for the Luftwaffe) too, so easy to convert to twin 20mm, 30mm not being a US calibre.

Didn't someone do a Gina in US Army colours in a profile?
Why re-engine the Tigercat? It was OK as it was, so I'd leave it. Great looking model too.....I have several in the stash ready to build!!

Love the idea of an AU-1 Corsair, but why not the AU-1C....with the contra-rotating prop and bubble canopy? USAF, USArmy or South Vietnamese??

I did an F-107 as an RF-107C in Vietnam colours....at the Nats a couple of years ago. I have another started...perhaps I should finish it, but RAF in Vietnam.

Then I've got my 1/48th VTOL F-105 still part-built, although plans for that are for ANG service in wraparound colours. Still could be in an extended Vietnam scenario....operating out of Thailand.

That's not a WhIf, the US ARMY trialed a G-91 in RW.

It was the way Jeff & Carlos did it Jim.  Jeff did a profile as an in-service machine in MERDC camo, Carlos put it into plastic & added a extra few lumps & bumps.

The US Army Gina just had US markings & dayglo patches over the standard Italian camo.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.
