Remaindered bookshop chain The Works also carry a range of art materials, some of which may be useful for modelling.

I picked up a desktop paintbrush stand for £2.00, which is flexible enough to take brushes, craft knives, pens, files, etc... which is great for keeping the bench tidy. Also handy as a stand for the blu-tack-topped old felt-tips which I use for handling small pits whilst painting.

Also got some cheap brushes, but I've not tried them yet.

their inexpensive brushes are quite reasonable, i've bought
several packets in the last couple of years.

Remaindered book chain The Works currently have some decent Revell kits in at discount prices. Exactly what's in each branch seems to be up to the local manager though, so there's no guarantee they'll all be in your local. You might also have to search for them. I've been in two today and in one they were in a special display, but in the other, they were buried among the jigsaws...

1/72nd NH-90 : discounted from £15 to £10
1/144th Tu-95 Bear D : discounted from £15 to £10
1/32nd Red Arrows Hawk : £10
Various 1/24th racing cars : £10
Various 1/72nd & 1/76th infantry sets : £3

Airfix 1/72nd Red Arrows Gnat starter set : £cheep (probably not the new tool)
Airfix 1/72nd F-5A starter set : £cheep

Was awfully tempted by the Bear and the helo, but I've spent WAY too much money of late... :banghead:

EDIT : remembered they had a couple of Airfix ones too.

I was in my local one recentley and saw they had the Airfix starter kits, no Revell ones.  They weren't actually discounted, but the same kits had two different prices.  Natrually, pick up the cheaper one, which was two or three quid less.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

I was in my local The Works this afternoon in Reading. Had a good look, but bugger all Revell kits though.
