The Be-200 Altair would be perfect, and there's a superb FS9 model of it available.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Having followed the books from the beginning, (yes, I read, a lot) NUMA was created by the Federal Government after the Viet Nam War. It is basically NOAA and the USCG combined, more based on research than the USCG's law enforcement aspect. So I am sure that Sandecker would be buying surplus US Military equipment for some of the NUMA equipment.

Sounds like a great place for P-2s once the P-3 started coming on line. Of course Seakings would fit well.

I love Clive's books. I'll follow along and might even join into a group build. I have ideas that would tickle even Dirk Pitt!

MiB,if you're Going for Military Surplus Aircraft, how about Adding a UH-1N to the NUMA Line up? it was a Version used by the US Navy, and would be of Use i think. hope this Helps. Dan

B-29/50 whit old scheme is beautiful!!
UH-1N (Bell 212 Twin Huey) is a good idea 'cos the US Navy use this model (for ex. the orange one in Antartic VX-6 squadron). Maybe it was so simple and straightforward that I had not ever thought Hahahah

Albatross is good, I think NUMA would find a few flying boats useful specific to it's role.  The Albatross would probably have been replaced by now and you'd have to go outside the US to find one.  So maybe the CL-215/415?  Possiby the Shin Meiwa US-1, being replaced with a US-2?

Maybe NUMA had a predecessor, like NACA existed before NASA, with more of military slant?  So it might have inherited a few aircraft it's previous life, mostly from USN stocks?  NUMA's earliest aircraft might have been 60's/70's P-2 Neptune maybe?

NUMA Catalinas?

MiB

mhh, maybe too old.

Reading Cussler's books I think that helicopters bases are aboard Numa ship, like USCG or Greenpeace choppers :D
