Alright, here I am, and I'm declaring my F-16N to be converted for the US Navy, an alternate VF-111 Sundowners bird, in a different colour scheme.

To Start, let me open with... I Have now learned a new respect or at least understanding for the madmen who develop AMS.  Bought the Fujimi 16N off Gary, came with the Eduard Photo Etch 16A+ Megapack.  Great F****ty God, to put it frankly.  The Drool Bucket Alone is FOUR PIECES!!!!  It takes a special breed of insane person to use this kind of etch, and I think... I'm one of them now, though definately not on the level of some.

I'll get pics up in a bit, once I've got the office rather done, and the whole thing buttoned up a little.  I'm debating whether I'm masochistic enough to do the seat handles and sticky outty bits, let alone the seatbelts.

Oh cool.......sounds interesting.....looking forward to the pics..........

Yeah, I can't help but Whif the markings on a Squadron that is by and large done a little too frequently.  The contrast of the black tail and hump on the Light Ghost Body should look real sharp I think as well.

Alright, here she is, in living colour, my F-16N in the progress so far.  The office went together, though I had to carve and slice and chop the dash board to get it to fit under the canopy (needed the bigger IP area for the etch IP, so I took the back-seat dashboard and put it up front.  Sand, sand, sand, fit, sand, sand, sand, fit.)  and that's all in place.  The office fits in together, had to chop the stands a little, and the spot above the drool bucket.  The base colour is going to be Light Ghost Grey, with my Alt Sundowners markings, which should make it look pretty damn sharp I think.  No Low Vis here, that's for sure.  The DSI is murder - you can see how much I've had to hack at the intake to get the diverter area out, so I can putty it up into the hump, and I got the lip to stick out enough, so far so good.  The underbody work will just be gangs of fun, I can see That now, but I'm not running away from this, not by a Long shot.  Pics!

Alright, more progress to be had - I got started on the markings to avoid cursing and swearing too much at the intake, which I just finished doing more Putty Fu on - I decided to scrap the trapezoidal underbody concept, it'd be far too frustrating, so I just filled the remainder of the diverter's track to smooth over the underbody, in addition to the small ramp I've had in place to cover the diverter gap and smooth it out.  As I said, the markings are Alternate Sundowners, so I took a few liberties with some things.  Straight Black horizontals and Straight Gold ventrals kinda didn't sit right with me, so I made them uniform, and did Black with a Gold Trim line.  The canopy framing also changed, with a Black outline behind what used to be the red marking, black trim under the IP area to give it a more blended look, and a straight gold frame rail over top as well as around the seat area of the pit.  I'm debating doing a skunk line down the spine to tie the canopy framing to the tail, but I'm not entirely sure just yet.  Anyways, Pics!

Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try.

Thanks, D - the scheme's looking pretty good to me overall, and I'm quite liking the way it looks.

Thanks, TT - was waiting for you to spot her, considering you were a co-conspirator on her markings.

Alright, fuse's coming along, got the cat bar and the hook in place, have a thought lurking in my head, wouldn't mind some input - I'm thinking of somehow designing recesses for four AMRAAMs - I have the recessed mounts from the Revell Tiffie, just kinda bouncing the thought around on it.  Thoughts on location, style?

I really like the extra effort you took outlining the tailfeathers. Nice choice of colors, too.

Thanks, Brian - the tailfeathers need a little touching up before I fit those in place, and the gold sundowners sunburst will look real slick I think on the black tail.  Still undecided on the skunk stripe.

I decided to go for broke and tested four 120's down the side of the engine mounting.  The fins made the fit a real pain, so I looked up the 120C, and clipped the tips to make them a smoother fit.  In general, they look nice in a two by two along the fuselage/LERX join.  She's coming along nicely I think, I'll have pics in a bit when I've had some more work done.

Hmm, had another idea come past my skull (Damn those ideas) as I was trying to think of a loadout for this beastie.  I have the Hasegawa IV set, and the idea started bumping around as I looked at the STARMs in the set - Seekbats might be pretty interesting to have hanging on the wings - whif the plane, the markings, the armament, what else can I do to this monster?  I'm thinking the innermost hardpoints instead of the tanks might look pretty nice to me.

Thoughts?
