Looks very good so far. I like your paint idea and may have to pinch it sometime in the future. ;)

Glad you like it Eddie, the concept of redoing the colours of Navy Squadron Markings was not originally mine, I will own - Tigercat inspired the thought, with his Red Rogers Phantom, and then came a discussion with Taiidan of Sundowners in Black and Yellow (TT being a Steelers fan) which I turned to Black and Gold as I have this nice Vallejo Gold and nothing to use it on in a good quantity, thus I have this.

Alright, time for another update.  I've been grinding away on this, just been slow on the pictures.  Lack of motivation on the part of the pictures.  I've been working on the tails mostly, though I paused to do the gear bay doors, the gears, and some of the payload.  So, let's go pic by pic this time for a change of style:

Alright, here's the long shot down the body, showing off some of the detail work I added.  Sensor pods on the intake mounting, nose sensors.  If you look real close you can see the edge of one of the bird cutters I scratchbuilt on here from small pieces of styrene.  I'll have to see if I can get a better pic another time.

Here's a nice underbody shot with the armament in detail, the six that are mounted already - Four AIM-120C along the fuselage corner, and two Seekbats hanging on the innermost hardpoints.  I used the STARM and Adapter Rail from the Hasegawa IV set for my Seekbats.  I figured a modernized Seekbat would be a mother of a LRAAM and good for bomber-killing.

Here we see two modified AIM-7 Sparrows - blunted the noses, going to paint them for heater heads.  Clipped the wingtips and evened them out in the style of the 120C, thought it looked a little bit more interesting.  Not pictured, four AIM-9J that are being given some 9X style upgrades, basically a heavier-hitting 9X.

Here we see the piece de resistance, the tail with tail art painted on.  I'll still have to add a little more gold on the NL, and come back with the black to trim in the lines and sharpen it all up, but the majority is right there.

As always - Questions, Comments, Queries and Rude Remarks are welcome.

Thanks, Brian - I just have to do a little more on it then clean up the lines and that side is good to go... then I have to add a few more rays and the NL on the other side.

Loaded for T-Rex! That's a serious payload there, saur. The alt-colour markings are a great idea. What scale is this in?

Thanks, guys - the scale is 1/72.  I have to admit, the alt-colour Sundowners markings look pretty sweet IMO.
