I really want to participate in this GB.  So I've gotten started on my model using some asthma inhalers I got from my wife.  My only problem is the real world.  Nov & Dec are crazy months for me and I don't know if I'll have time to finish this project.  As soon as I can borrow my wife's digital camera back from my son, I can get some photos.

lol, of course, you got lots of presents to sort out!  Don't let those elves slack - idle little beggars.... ;)

Here's what I'm starting with.  This photo shows two of the asthma inhalers I collected from my wife.  One of them has the cover removed.  I will be using the inner part and not the covers.  Sorry for the poor quality of the photo.  This was a quick shot using my cell phone.  Hope to get the real camera back soon.

All hail the asthma inhalers! God bless their cotton socks!

Always nice to see that someone else uses them in models
There are no good kits, bad kits or grail kits, just kitbash fodder.

I managed to find some time for model building the last few days.  Here's the status on this one.

First, here are the two halves after some cut and paste.  I wanted them to be circular without the thumbrest.  So I used two inhalers and cut them to make one finished.  The photo shows the original shape with the thumbrest and the cut up and spliced together top and bottom.

This shows the top and bottom pieces after the first round of PSR.  I filled where the cut pieces joined.  You can also see the cutout in the top piece for the cockpit/canopy.  And the brass piece in the bottom is to allow a stand to fit in the finished model since it will be displayed in flight.

Here the two halves are joined back together.  The canopy is sitting in position, but not glued down yet.

Finally, a quick shot to show how I made the canopy.  It started out as 15mm oval doll eye that I found at Hobby Lobby.  I cut the bottom white base off and it now fits as a canopy on the model.

I'm so happy to see a project using an inhaler as the basis since this was something HOG was famous for. Looks like you're making some outstanding progress, Ed and it would be hard for me to think of a project more in keeping with the spirit of this GB.

This is looking highly promising Ed!  <_<

I've got some of those oval doll eyes - handy arn't they? Mind you, they're also tricky to separate: the glue holding the backing on is very strong, and the dome is vac-form thin......

Bad news.  This one definitely won't be done by the Dec 31 deadline.  I had a major paint disaster last night.  Right now, the parts are sitting in a plastic bag soaking in paint stripper.  I'll try to get back on it this weekend.  I hope to finish it up in the next week or two.

As long as you make to the finish line, that all that matters. Looking forward to seeing this done. :)
