Hi chaps, just finished this one tonight, been good fun and easy build helped by the use of the nice Italeri F-104C as a basis and not helped by the quality of the Unicraft pieces!!
A very strange and highly dangerous concept that thankfully was killed stone dead by the advent of the Harrier... Weapons were never decided so I used a bit of license and a spare Hasegawa Air to Air missile set...
Hate to think of the controlability in a crosswind, or take off, or landing, or the hover,or transition or landing, (controlled crash?)........the 'wing' pylons would have taken a battering as would the pilot!!!

Ready for the R and D or What'If? table at the weekend...hopefully Martin will be offloading a few more repops of this conversion so a couple of European 'wiffs ' are definately on the cards..

Thanks for looking,

Andy...

In all its glory fitted with a pair of AIM 7E Sparrows and a brace of AIM9D Sidewinders...waiting to take off and kill its pilot as quickly and efficiently as possible!!!

Clearly, Field Marshal Haig is about to make yet another gargantuan effort to move his drinks cabinet six inches closer to Berlin.

Very nice.  I bet that would have been a real exciting ride at any point of the mission.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

As crazy as some of the projects here are, it always amazes me to see the things that were thought of in the real world.  Gorgeous build, though.

I'm simply amazed by all the talent on this forum...

And now for the thing that really would be the icing on the cake: a stand or pedestal with the original VTOL F-104 logo painted at the bottom. I'm enclosing the cover to an original inhouse document from Lockheed.

Love this model, but this is one of those designs that make you go "AAAAAIIIIIIIEEEEEEE!!!!!!"  Scares the crap outta me.  That design just scares me.

Great work on that one!! I've got the same kit and conversion, but have balked at doing the bare-metal scheme.
Well done - kudos to you for making it look right!

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.
