Don't let ageing get you down, it's too hard to get back up

Gotta add/share this one from a German SF forum (phoxim.de), from local  fellow user "Distel" - the murky water and the mud are just great:

dumaniac

yeah - that's a beauty - work well done

Jungle scenes are so difficult with all the plants you have to do. My hat is off to this fellow!

Try using bonsia trees instead?

You might laugh - but scratching ferns and such stuff with paper is not as difficult as one might expect. Is surely some work, but it looks much better and natural than most OOb stuff you buy in hobby stores. And it is way cheaper!

I've been doing some reading on this thing and if it's what it's meant to be, that lot around it would be very, very dead very quickly.

This guy has done a fair bit of research:

Wow!! No wonder those Germans had problems with their rocket projects, if all they got was cotton wool!

They would by that thing, if it is indeed "Die Glocke" (The Bell) - anything organic left in it's field of operation decayed into a browish-blackish-grey goo within a matter of hours.

I'd like my two hours plus back, thank you. That was a load of utter tripe! Sure, he's got some facts mixed in with a boat-load of hand waving physics, but it's a grab bag of popular conspiracy theories laced with enough bizarre and over the edge physics to make it almost comedic.
- German klystrons were smaller than the US ones? Yeah, cuz the US was producing cavity magnetrons, allowing centimetric radars in very compact sizes, so of course the Germans were frantically trying to make klystrons smaller.

-He misrepresents the state of the art of weapon technology, leaves out all sorts of allied systems that were more advanced or just plain worked over amazing theoretical German systems, and conveniently states theoretical concepts predating Mr Moustache's gang of Goons as proof the ideas the Nazis flouted were workable.

-The Germans used nukes on the Eastern front in 43? Why did nobody on Stalin's side make any mention of it? So what if the Luftwaffe had a map showing nuke damage to New York? They were working on a bomb, that's no secret.

-He makes it sound like yellowcake is somehow difficult to make and a near final step in making a bomb, yet it is actually relatively easy to make, and is a very early step in the process. In fact, he jumps back and forth in his claims, sometimes stating nukes were NOT the main effort, then claiming the Germans had lots of fissile material to make nukes and used them.

-The "Bell" caused plants to shrivel and turn to mush in days/weeks/months? I can do that in the garden without much effort actually...

-Then  of course he brings in "New World order", "Bilderberg Group", and "Zero Point Energy", three major pillars of international conspiracy theorists. If you're going to sell 5 books, you need to include ALL the popular crazy stuff.

-And of course it wouldn't be crazy Nazi Theory time without involving ancient texts and the shape of the swash-sticker itself, tied into the unproven and most likely unworkable Space-Time Tensor concept. Yeah, the swash-stick shape itself reveals the way to free energy. Yeah, right.

Nice diorama though. The thought of those Nazis melting into goo is nice as well.

Ah, Joseph Farrell - would have been a perfect candidate for joining the What If group: until he decided his in(s)ane ramblings are Really Were as opposed to What If.
Die Glocke falls into the same category - poor old Nick Cook got thoroughly sucked into that one by Witkowski and now appears to be a full-on believer. Maybe he should have done more actual research instead of listening to that behind the scenes crank "Dr. Markus".
What if... I had a brain?

Interestingly, I covered a lot of his material accidentally with my "Fledenteller", something I made up at least 15 years ago, and created the 'facts" from inside my mind. He is a LOT smarter than I am however, since all I have is a silly model, whereas he's got 5 books and lord knows how much money coming in from speaking events. :(

5 books?  Closer to twenty, and I've worked my way through half of them.

He does seem to do a lot of research - everything is mentioned in footnotes - and he does also say that much of what he's saying is speculative.

Twenty? Wow, I'm impressed. Even Von Danieken didn't get out that much material.
