well the snow has stopped and the freeze has started, the forcast for tomorrow is sunny spells with an artic wind from the North so they said no thaw tomorrow and warned that they cannot identify a period of warmer weather in the short term to generate a thaw !!!. The five day forecast for Bolton is more snow on Thursday and possibly Saturday night so the outlook is not good at the moment regarding the show.

Awaiting news from our club leadership who will access the situation together with the weather forecast as that becomes clearer.

Dork and I have been chatting 'bout this too. It's not the run across 'the moss' that I'm concerned about, it's the state of the ice rink/car park when we get there - especially as I'm guessing that the school is closed (probably) until after the weekend. If I was much younger and impetuous I'd still make the trek.... but I'm not so I won't

Having said that.... and in all seriousness.... Geoff can you try and get me an old Microscale sheet from that trader who's always there - forgotten his name - we've talked about him before, I think he's relatively local to Bolton.

The sheet number is 72-128 (Early A-6 Intruders)..... doesn't matter 'bout the price, I'll pay. Thanks

The biggest trouble in Durham with the snow is the idiot drives, they all need to learn how to drive, crawling a long at 5mph and then keeping their foot on the brakes as they go down hill, muppets  :banghead: :banghead:

Well the weather is the least of my problems at the moment, as I have just spent all day in Chorley hospital and Preston Hospital, and now I have to rest for the duration. >:(

Hope I never find out Chris - all the best
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Ouch, hope everything works out okay Chris.

I was wondering about coming up, but with the weather n'all I'll probably not make the trip over the Pennines.  Probably see you all at Huddersfield. :drink:
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

yep had a phone call and a few emails to inform me its been cancelled. considering the amount of snow and ice in the bolton area, they made the right choice.
I always hope for the best.

Well if, as it seems, a large professional company have had to cancel a show in the middle of Manchester, then I don't envy a local model club trying to put a show on up in Bolton. Right choice.

Sorry about that folks, the lads went to the school today to gauge the situation and discovered the attempts to clear the snow had revealled the layer of ice underneath. Give the forecast for even colder nights without a chance of a thaw and potential further snow forecast over the weekend, there was no other option than cancelling open to us.

Dont worry as we havent incurred any major costs as yet in relation to hosting the show (Which we would have if the weather had turned bad saturday night/sunday morning !!). We may look into hosting a different event later in the year, depending on the esisting show schedule and availability of the venue, but we wont know about that until later in the year.

As for Hudderfield, we jsut have to hope the weather breaks soon, back to our traditional mild wet winters.
