Leave it to the Museum of Naval Aviation to keep churning out great shots from their archives.

Check this out!  They got the underside too.

I also found this.  I wanted to attach it, but the image is too large.  I love overhead shots of airshow static areas, but to get the B-17 in there too is just too cool for words.

Some more from the National Museum of Naval Aviation.  First up, a sub's eye view of a Sea King's dipping sonar.  Then an early 70s formation of a Marine F-4, A-4M and AV-8A.  Then a Corsair overflies the fleet supporting the landing at Incheon sixty years ago yesterday.  Last a pair of F-4Ns.

Operation Snowball

Found in a build thread over on Flugzeugforum.de.
'Operation Snowball' took place on February 8th 1950. John Cunningham carried a pair of skis attached on top of the tail booms.

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Lovely RN away day pic, the Op Snowball pic just show how compact the Vampire was, with the Skis stretching about two thirds the length of the booms!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Yeah, but you have to remember that was in the days of seven foot long skis. ;)
