I don't know the details, nor can confirm, but I actually suspect it is an Omega Aerial Refueling Services, Inc. KDC-10 (see below).  The aircraft may well be both RAAF and/or USN/USMC Classic Hornets.

Some classics nipped from the 177th FW's Facebook page:

At William Tell '84, the last hurrah for the 106 at a major AF weapons meet.  We still have the trophy for "Best Looking F-106" in our chow hall.

Vertical climbs...also on the cover of a book, who's title eludes me at the moment

And I'll repeat it...Sixes are Sexy.

As ytwon said, KC-10s and Tristars can be told apart by the nozzle of the middle engine. The trick is to remember which plane uses which nozzle. What always throws me is the MD-11, because I can't remember which type it's a development of, DC-10 or Tristar.  :banghead: Airliners confuse me!

I think those are Legacy Hornets. The Super Hornets look kinda "stretched", whereas the Legacy Hornets seem more "compact". And the blade antennas under the forward fuselage seem to say Legacy Hornet. The Supers have two raked-back antennas, while the forward one on the Legacy Hornets seem straight and the rear one is raked back.

Speaking of sexy, here's the complete opposite.  ;D

Not necessarily a nice photo, but a cool video: Can you say "rough field performance"?

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

MD-11s were the next gen DC-10s.  Which didn't make it really in the commercial world.

From astern an MD-11 looks 'under-tailed' as the tailplane is a lot smaller than that of a DC10. McD did something tricky with the control system which meant they didn't need so much tail area. Plus every MD-11 has a bulged #2 engine intake, almost exactly the same shape as the very few DC10-40s built, those mostly flown by Northwest.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)
