Came across this one today - might be a good reference for the Africa GB?

Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

^ Absolutely!  With the background, this might also pass for Hawaii. Just like they filmed "Tears of the Sun" on Hawaii and pretended it was Nigeria.

Saw this in the top 5 on airliners.net, it's the carrier USS Eisenhower, from 2009:

It's a dramatic change from carrier decks of the past, when there were as many as five or six different types deployed on the same ship.

has there ever been a kit of the Banshee in 1/72?

Airfix (I've got one) and Hobbycraft (got one of them too), both IJ. Then there's Airmodel, O'Neill and Victoria Products vacuforms (I've got a VP one too)

While looking for something else, I found my Airfix Banshee.  It's a F2H-2 but there's parts on the sprue to make it into a F2H-2P recon bird.  The Hobbycraft kit is a F2H-3 which had a longer fuselage.
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

Some of that stuff needs to be seen, but I'll pass on thanking you for sharing.

Bemusing that a F-111 doing a dump & burn is included - maybe someone should educate the person who included it.

Love that shot of the Ruslan blasting off in the snow....awesome. Thanks Mav ! And the Tornado pic after it might be even better...

The continuing unrest in the Middle East has become a constant source of neat images of military vehicles in an urban setting.  I downloaded a slew of images during the "revolution" in Egypt, and it now looks like Libya is the new source.  I haven't gotten any decent images from Bahrain or Yemen, but it's early.

Today Libyan Air Force pilots were ordered to fire on protesters, and two colonels flew their aircraft (Mirage F.1s) to Malta and defected.

As an addendum to my last post, yesterday on airliners.net, four of the "Top 5 of the Last 24 Hours" were shots of the F1s that landed in Malta.

Even though the quality of the pic ain't that great, thought this was a rather cool shot.
