Where is the much publicised rain?

Believe it or not, Manchester has substantially less annual rainfall than Sydney, however we get more rainy days (not sure how a rainy day is defined):

Manchester : 860mm, 256 days
Sydney : 1304mm, 120 days

So is Runcorn part of the City of Manchester ? As far as I know it's in Cheshire so that's a bit of a cheat saying pics of Manchester and also explains why I hadn't seen it  ;D

Who says Manchester isn't pretty? Well not the Manchester Police Helicopter by all accounts, they've got a Twitter account and a good photographer:

Manchester? That might be a tiny part of the Manchester Ship Canal there but Runcorn is closer to Liverpool!
For that to be a What-If pic it would still have the old transporter bridge to the right. ;)

The police helicopters now don't serve an exact locale, the National Police Helicopter Service setup means they are shared with neighbouring forces to achieve better costs. It's going to cause problems for the Met soon if their heli's get called out to Kent or Hertfordshire.

Captain Canada

Great chopper pic. I think you could flip it over and still think it was right side up !

Definitely one of the best-looking periods in Royal Navy carrier aviation history.

Some interesting variations in the Firefly's colour schemes there.

'226' has no fin flash and Type D roundels, '231' has a white rudder and a deeper layer of white under the nose and '228' has a red patch on the rudder.

Conversely the Sea Furies might all have been painted by the same guy!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

To open up a can of worms.....
Shouldn't that be 'sky' as the underside Colour?
As I recall we had EDSG/Sky with low demarcation, then EDSG/Sky high demarcation line then,
I believe that EDSG/White came in with the first jets? Scimitars definitely and possibly late Sea Hawks?
Or at least those refurbished/built for other users.
And I'd guess the odd colored fin at Dark Sea Grey... However the study of and interpretation of photos......
Colour or black and white is at best a guessing game. ;D

Keith
The British have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved". Soon though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross". Londoners have not been "A Bit Cross" since the Blitz in 1940 when tea supplies ran out for three weeks

Fair points all. I called it the "Manchester" helo because it's the one based in Manchester and most of their pics are from there.

Absolutely agree. I love the low demarcation for the EDSG and the WWII markings combo
