Making model building videos?

A thought just occured to me. Has anyone ever thought of making and posting videos (Perhaps on YouTube or elsewhere.) to show off your models and talk about in-progress builds? Viewing still pics from Photobucket or Flickr, etc. is nice, but sometimes don't you wish you could hear the modeler explain his build progress or see the model builder in the video, etc.? IMO, sometimes writing sentences and paragraphs of text doesn't quite convey things enough. But it varies from person to person and model to model. I've been thinking of using video for all my future model work to help explain and show my future builds. Sometimes, I get tired of posting numerous links to images when instead a single 5-10 minute video can explain and show much, much more.

I did make a couple of instructional videos on making wargames terrain. It's insanely hard to get it to work if you are filming yourself. You have to find a camera position thyat works, you then have to make sure you only work on shot, and don't deviate off screen. Then you have to edit it, and contend with Youtube's 10 minute limitations. Which meant a LOT of fast motion.
I'm not going to do it again, I will not watch videos on modeling by others as I do not want to blow my download limit that quickly.
Besides, I found a blog format was much better for my instructional purposes.

There are some very nice videos by Flory Models on YouTube. A guide for the REMOVING SEAM LINES, for example. Pretty nicely done. 

But for an in-progress report? PW pointed out some problems. And then there's bandwidth. I prefer a couple of very sharp pics to minutes of low-res, pixely video. There were some very nice videos by Brett Green of Hyperscale showing how-to's regarding 109s, but the guide on mottling camo schemes wasn't all that helpful because the resolution wasn't high enough to pick out that kind of detail.

One very cool site is/was MODELERCHANNEL.COM. Very nicely done.  Hope they'll be back one day.

one very funny model/video guy is Scott Girvan from Scale Model Addict. He did a great series on X-wings. He makes a living as a media guy so for him his production values were great, while his skills as a modeler were in his words pretty good. He made SMA to raise money for wells in Africa.

Flory is about the best or at least the second best I've seen. I wish I could afford to be a member of his site.

There's a guy in the UK that does a few vids (Pro Modeller i think is his media name), the ol' man got the one of the new academy cRaptor . . . it was very informative & entertaining (due to the language barrier ).

Me personally, its my f*cking model & I'll learn by trial and error

As Shas says, there are several available from Pro Modeller.  They are available on DVD, or you can subscribe to the website & download them.  It's £3 (about $5) a month to subscribe, & you can pay for a single month or subscribe for a year.  It also seems that from Moritz's link that some are available on YouTube so this might be a free option?

I've been toying with the idea of downloading or buying videos myself.  I'm not very good at learning off my own back, so video tutorials might be a good option.
