Today I masked off canopy...

...and glued handles on left side of canopy for entrance into cockpit - I used superglue, and yes, I know that superglue "fogs" clear parts, but I controlled the amount of glue, and position of canopy after glueing to eliminate fumes going onto "glass" - areas with glue were turned upwards so fumes can evaporate straight upwards too, while additional help was Tamiya tape in which canopy was already masked, so superglue cannot cause fogging under masked area.... I already tried this on piece of clear styren yesterday, and hopefully it will be all OK after painting and unmasking...

I also glued pitot tubes on their positions on nose...

Hopefully next step will be priming (finally)....

Thanx for reading, all comments and critiques are very welcome,

like one friend of mine have said yesterday - "this will be one happy plane... that kills with a smile" :D
and actually, A-7 really does look to be smiling all the time due to its large intake! :D

I have to sand a bit surplus of superglue on all those antennas (I can see it now on this last photo), but in few days I should apply layer of primer - Mr. Surfacer 1000 or 1200...

A-7 got the coat of Mr. Surfacer 1200...

Tomorrow I should spray off-white on wheelbays, undercarriage legs and covers, yellow zinc chromate on inside of exhaust area of fuselage, and some kind of fluoroscent red/orange on intake cover...

Thanx Cliffy ;) we're starting with colour easily ;)

Areas to be airbrushed masked with Tamiya tape...

Undercarriage leg(s) got coat of Gunze Off-White (main landing gear legs and doors are still on sprue but painted now)

Wheelbays also got coat of Gunze Off-White...

Exhaust area painted in Yellow Zinc Chromate (acrylic Model Master Chromate Yellow with a tiny drop of Black)...

Intake cover painted in "orange-red" - mixture of enamel Humbrol 174 & 209

Next step should be preshading of panel lines....

Thanx for reading and please, all comments and critiques are very welcome ;)

A work of absolute precision.

Gondor

I am defiantly using some of the older part built aircraft kits I have to practice my airbrushing technique after seeing such fine lines.

thanx guys ;) although I'm not 100% satisfied with width of lines I sprayed - I've recently started to work with Harder & Steenbeck Evolution 2in1 airbrush (http://www.hansa-airbrush.de/evolution_03.html) after years spent on Aztec 4709, so I'm still getting used to it ;)

Anyway, maybe it is better that preshading lines are a bit heavier than I would like to, because camouflage colour will be Navy blue - very dark colour, so these wider lines would have greater effect in the end?

I'm getting on overall navy blue in few days - I must find few extra free hours for work, because it is going to last a bit :D  - I'm using technique of spraying extra thinned colour in multi passes, and then spraying lightened base colour a bit on middle parts of panels - this is my way for shading of panels, in combination with preshading - well, you'll see result in few days :)

to be continued... :D

regards,
Srdjan
