70 USD or £45?  :o Crikey, you guys are getting ripped off! Here in Germany it retails for  36 EUR, which is about 47USD or £32. Still expensive. And the industry wonders why they sell fewer and fewer kits. With today's shipping charges, it's mostly cheaper to order from China or Japan directly.  :banghead: Some importers are really makin' a killin'. Maybe they should watch who they're gonna kill in the end.

Scratch the above!  :banghead: What I found there must've been a special offer. Other prices in shops I've seen were more or less around the 70USD/45GBP mentioned earlier. Guess we're being ripped off too!
Cheers,
Moritz

For nothing now can ever come to any good.

Isn't that a 'Chinese Copy' of a Gripen????
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

No, it's more like a cross between an F-16 and an F-20.  It's quite an agile aircraft I've heard.

The Chinese aircraft that have been coming from Trumpeter are more than welcome & very whiffable, with only some aircraft getting a handful of exports, although I was surprised to see just how many nations field the K-8 trainer.  Trying to think what I could do with a J-8 & possibly a JF-17.  Hmmmm......
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Michael Benolkin has just posted an in-box kit review of the new Trumpeter kit# 1655, 1/72nd scale Tu-22M2 Backfire B for your viewing pleasure.  The price is what scares me the most.  I can only hope that a purchase from a source other than the usual distributors will be substantially less.

I saw the Trumpeter Tu-22M2 in the LMS the other day and I think it was about 80 quid  :banghead: :banghead:

before I read your response I was going to say it looks like a sup'ed-up F-5, with a touch of F-35 technology

The Italeri one can still be found, is there anything wrong with it ?

ken Duffy has the new Trumpeter Backfire for review so we should get his overall opinion soon. His initial impression on ARC is that its very good and light years ahead of the original short fat Esci kit.

BTW the Tu-22M3 Backfire C is due out in July by which time the exchange rate may give a more favourable price (although not by much)

Excellent article aircav, got one of those so this will prove useful, but my question is directed at the version Trumpeter has out now. I've got an Italeri (ex-Esci I think) one of those in the stash too.
