Airfix releases for 2010 (V BOMBERS !!)

The XII Spit and XVII Seafire look very tempting...... But as only two squadrons flew the XII Spits (41 & 91) markings options are going to be somewhat limited. The Mk 17 Seafires didn't arrive until 1946, but went through to 1954 so more scope for markings there....

Must admit when Rad sent me this it gave me a warm feeling all over. Reminded me of when I was younger and the Airfix catalogue came out and you drooled over it  Spits/Seafires even if they are in the wrong scale

Does anyone know if the 110's are new tools or re issue's plse? From reading this some of the kits are re-issues....I got some of the new Mig 15's but read on another thread that they are innacurate....

Sweet. How hard would it be to do HMS Invincible from that kit?

Shouldn't be too difficult. And I'm sure there will be aftermarket conversion sets from the likes of White Ensign Models do do just that at some point.

Be interested if the Valiant and Lynx are nearer the Nimrod/Mossie than the 109/Canberra...

Expect we might see a few boxings of the Lynx actually, given all the variants and foreign users......would have been so much more suitable for the JMSDF than the Seahawk

The bit that surprises me though is the lack of current british armour (challenger/Mastiff/Jackal ect) I mean normally when theres a war on, the demand for kits of the stuff you see in the news goes crazy (i remember the scramble for tornado kits during the first gulf war) but nothing, not from any manurfacturer. I would have thought Airfix would have done something even if the others didnt... Still ive got a big enough pile at the moment and am gonna have to find space for them first... Then space for the TSR2... Then space for the MIG.... Then the Valiant...

The armour is their weak area, as the 1/75th scale has effectively lost out to 1/72 now, plus their design team are busy focusing on their existing areas without venturing into new territory. The may well get back to armour in the future, if this battlefield stuff takes off and they can poach some of people creating stuff for Millicast & Cromwell to do masters for injection moulded kits.

The other problem is the Afghan conflict is rapidly changing, with equipment fits and even vehicles changing to match the threat from the Taliban. Given the timing it takes to produce a mainstream kit, there is every chance that said model would no longer be in service.

Cromwell models do some of the latest gear in 1/35th resin although getting hold of it is rather difficult.

Admit it though how fun would detailing a mastiff be ? Especially since as you mention, every single one seems to be different...

Well.....barrel shaped body,swept wing,T shape tail and a bubble canopy....looks ok to me......I have to admit unless its a glaring mistake ( e.g tri motor B17....) I wouldn't have noticed.....flog me with a rusty barb wire flail but I ain't a rivet counter n don't on a regular basis lay planes on scale plans...actually....never have

I'm the same... for instance i have a 1:48 TSR2 in my pile and i know there are some mistakes in the kit (odd bulge in the fusalage, continuing aurgument about how the undercarriage should splay ect) but it looks close enough for me... That and my modelling skills aren't up to the job of fixing said problems anyway so... Meh...
