I'm the same... for instance i have a 1:48 TSR2 in my pile and i know there are some mistakes in the kit (odd bulge in the fusalage, continuing aurgument about how the undercarriage should splay ect) but it looks close enough for me... That and my modelling skills aren't up to the job of fixing said problems anyway so... Meh...

I've been following that discussion too, so I wrote to the RAF Museum and asked if they could take some measurements off the one they have for me.  They very kindly did, and from what they sent back the angle works out to 19 degrees.  I sent them a sketch of what dimensions I was after and they filled in the blanks.

if it looks like a mig 15, then its acurate

Well.....barrel shaped body, swept wing,T shape tail and a bubble canopy....looks ok to me......I have to admit unless its a glaring mistake ( e.g tri motor B17....) I wouldn't have noticed.....flog me with a rusty barb wire flail but I ain't a rivet counter n don't on a regular basis lay planes on scale plans...actually....never have
My exact sentiments also, I buy a model because I like it(and can afford it) as long as it looks like what I want it to when finished thats good by me.

Does anyone know if the 110's are new tools or re issue's plse? From reading this some of the kits are re-issues....I got some of the new Mig 15's but read on another thread that they are innacurate....

I hope they are "new tools". I can't see them re-modeling their old Me 110 (I hope they don't prove me wrong) , especially as they are talking about 2 marks. The type does need a new tool in 1/72 and maybe they've looked at the sales of the Eduard 1/48 scale kit and thought "ummmm" ?

As for accuracy of the Mig 15, as Martin says  "it looks like one", and at the end of the day it's nice to have them back and producing afordable, decent models that kids can get involved with without breaking the bank

I hope they are new toolings....I'd stretch to a few of them...especially if they got shark mouth markings.....oh for the love of God/any religeous figurehead you want as I don't wanna offend anyone....they must have sharks mouth for at least one option....
BODY,BODY....HEAD..!!!!

The news release I received today says they are 'new tool', why does everyone doubt that they won't be?  I've just bought the 'new tool' Spit XIX and Canberra B.8, they're definitely new tool.

Given the volume of responses here in a short time frame, would it be safe to say we should expect to see some whiffed Airfix on a fairly consistent basis?

Dont even go there... ive heard about twelve different versions of "ive measured it" and everyone seems to come to different measurements... (hence the arguing over it) For instance im fairly sure that each of the surviving two are different anyway which just adds to the confusion... So in short... the one in the kit is fine by me.... lol   ;D

well the cosford one is the only compleat bird, the duxford bird is the real worlds largest Airfix kit. the wings are off XR222, the aft fuss is off XR227 and the nose is a non flight worthy test unit. they found that out when they stripped her down and repainted her ready for the new hanger. The only reason shes marked as 222 is that was the only serial they could see when she first arrived at Cranfeild.

any way details, details. this a whiffing forum....thats the last thing we need lol

Two thoughts come to mind..

1) Why did we have to wait SO long for a Valiant (and the Mach 2 version doesn't count here....)

2) Why not do the Spitfire XII in 1/72 scale too? (My fave Spit mark, it's just purely 'full on', the biggest possible engine in the smallest possible airframe.  -_-)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I think some of are concerned that they may simply "tart up" some old moulds. I'm convinced that's what they've done with the "new" Me109, either that or they used the old one as a pattern ? Now there's nothing wrong with "tarting up" old moulds, look at the Italeri SM81 which I'm assured is the old Supermodel kit which has been completely updated it's now a great kit, as long as it's done decently.

Well it was only the Falklands that led to the Vulcan and Victor kits by Airfix & Matchbox, and after that the British model manufacturers had a bit of a torid time during the late eighties and ninties. It was only when Airfix started to rise from the ashes did a Valiant then become viable.

ROTFL!

I have one actually, but my home made XII, from an Airfix V, a Frog XIV and a DB Grffon nose looks better (but then I would say that, wouldn't I? [Copyright Mandy Rice-Davies 1963]  ;D)
