Excellent the capitalist imperialist spies are confused already. The peoples committee for exceedingly bad photo composition is to be congratulated.

actually i intend the resultant disaster to have more in common with the TSR2 I am thinking of using the Su27 FOD doors the engines will be in the place god and north america(n) (many people seem to confuse the two) intended them in the RA-5C. the wings are Su27 but there will be modifications. i don't think i have any soviet decals in the right scale though maybe chinese of ukranian

DaFROG

Well I intend it to be a russian equivalent of the TSR2 (no matter what markings it ends up wearing).

From what i read on the net the Tu22 blinder is the closest analog to the TSR2 in a similar timeframe. Apparently this aircraft was an absolute dog to fly and was developed into the Tu22M Backfire which was an almost totally new aircraft (AFIK only the bomb bay doors are common between the two).

I was thinking that in the timeline that this aircraft inhabits it would in fact be developed instead of the Tu22M, probably with the TSR2 going into service as an added incentive to develop something similar (also having the TSR go into service even if it's only in a hastily cobbled together backstory to make a hastily cobbled together whif seem vaguely plausible is guaranteed to get me brownie points with the majority of the furom ).

to answer Overkiller: Giving it VG wings would be a rather time consuming and round about way of making a not terribly accurate Tu22M (though reading reviews of some backfire kits out there it's be almost as accurate as them ). also it wouldn't really be a VG-lante due to backstory, and by the time i'm finished it probable won't be terribly recognizable

while it may have fixed wings i will tell you that the Su27 wings i will be using have separate slats and flaps (and leave it at that in case my inferior capitalist imperialist modeling skills can't get the soviet styrene to do what i want)

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

mockup. SU27 engine pods are the perfect size for intakes the vigi drop tanks will be shock cones.

Su27 vents will be used as compressor bypass vents for high speed or some such (location drawn in near the tail)

progress has progressed unimpressively (I have been busy tidying up my flat):

intakes made from the business ends of Su27 engine pods the LERXey things are made from Su27 flaps. green stuff is my new best friend.

tailfin

wings; top right airfix vigi, middle vague approximation of the finished product, left overs of vigi wing removed flaps and outer panel
