Plastic Past Times of Poole, under their eBay trader name of polarbears3kitscatcat are selling-off stuff like there's no tomorrow - and as far as I understand, there isn't a tomorrow for PPT, they're shutting-up-shop next year - anyhoos. I bought two RoG Hunter FGA9's off them last night for £13.00 (not inc. postage). Hannants will charge you £11.00 for one (not inc. postage).

Worth a look, whatever you build.

Amphion

I've had dealings with that lot via ebay a while back, and I sh*t you not when I say that I'm not sorry to see them go.

As a matter of fact it'll be a cold day in hell before I'll recommend that scamming, fraudulent and abusive seller to anyone...including my worst enemy (whoever that may be).

Aircav

I've delt with them quite a fews times in the past and had no trouble at all.

What happened, Amphion? I've had nothing but good dealings with them, online and in person.

PPT is in my old home town, in fact it's literary just around the corner of my old 'local' -the Bricklayers Arms.  "Course back then it wasn't there (1980) but I did visit the shop when I made a return some 21 years after I left to go to Canada.  The owner is as has been said, a bit brusk, but other than that generally quite helpful if you ask him about what you're after, I got the impression he didn't like 'browsers' but if you had something in mind he would point you right to the spot as to where they would be, the kits were stacked to the ceiling and the isles between the racks were quite tight.  I had mentioned to him I saw his ad in SAMI to which he promptly erupted into some tirade of that being done without his permission, but since my visit I've seen the ad just about in every issue up to today.  I should mention he had some very old stuff on display, many quite rare kits that I saw and reasonable priced.  Found an early Airfix Canberra which came home with me.  ;D

They usually have a big presence at any of the FAA Museum Shows at Yeovilton, and I DO mean big, the box pile is usually way higher than I can reach and I'm 6'1"! There's one coming up on Feb 13th, so I hope they last long enough to be there. That should be SOME sale!

I have heard some anecdotal stories that the husband can be very abusive to customers in their shop in Poole

Not anecdotal, I'm afraid, Dunc. I walked out of the shop in June, when he verbally assaulted his wife right in front of me..... left a stack of goodies on the counter and left. Came close to calling the Police, but thought that just may make things worse for her.

But that said, I first dealt with them by phone/post/cheque - ahhhh remember those days - over twenty years back and never, ever had any problems whatsoever with Ray & Judy. When I go back to our Training Centre in Dorset for my exams next month, I'll drive over on the Saturday morning to see what I can find..... but if I have to listen to that sort of cr*p again, I'll walk out, and this time I will call the Police...... Nobody should have to endure through that sort of abuse, nobody.

Um, why are you even going back?  Bloke doesn't deserve your custom ever again.  Its not like its a one-off, I've heard countless tales of that fella going off on one.

Beacuse its like visiting an Aladins Cave for Modelllers Nev, you just have to run the gauntlet of the Channel Island Troll who guards it  ;D.

BTW He's been talking of selling up for years, the buff on ebay just says its tatty stock being sold off this year so i suspect he's cutting down on the warehouses they have as most stock being cleared appears to be more the recent kits rather than the older rare one.

You're right, Geoff, he's probably got more rare and wonderous kits in that place than you have in your mythical stash . But as I say - I'll simply walk away if he starts-up again......
