My Stash just grew again 2010

Airfix modern RAF airfield set from PS Models in York.  I was looking for the NATO Ground crew for a dio & realised this set included a base as well which will be very useful.  The Scorpion will go with my other in the stash, the Harrier GR.3 is pretty rough & has gone straight into the bits box.

Went to Chestermoor this morning and ended up getting a 1/35 Roden Rolls-Royce armoured car and some Dragon British Para figures, comes with a fold-away BSA motorcycle and a PIAT.

Best place for the GR.3, and you can never have enough Scorpions (particularly if you want to find one with good tracks  )!

What are the ground crew like? Are there any RAF Regiment types with SLRs/Sterlings and NOT in NBC gear?

1. Dapol 1/76th Stevenson's Rocket, for the steampunk bits.  Across the bottom of the header card, there's a Union Jack and the words "Proudly manufactured in the UK by British staff for a worldwide market" - nice to see...


2. Lindberg 1/96th Vulcan - I GOT ONE, I GOT ONE! And for a reasonable price, and for only a slight redfinition of "reasonable" too.......

The idea is to see whether it will make a good 1/72nd Avro Avenger (Patchwork World) - some serious plastic fondling shortly.....

Got a Revell 1/144 Type VII/D mine-laying submarine today. The mine-laying fit will be thrown out and a Karl 54cm mortar will be installed instead!

Because I can!?  The idea is that the mortar was fitted to give the U-boat a land attack capability for surprise attacks on unsuspecting ports, refineries or docks. So instead of going after the convoys, they'll go after the ports, with the aim to scatter Allied forces.
The original idea is by Mav, with his "Grosse U-Boote" story, which revolves around the use of Typhoon-class subs by the Kriegsmarine. Two were to be fitted with an array of Karl mortars. CLICKY!

Just open up a mine hatch and fit a ICBM 

That's a splendid idea, actually. A friend of mine suggested that the mine hatches (which do look a lot like the ICBM hatches) could be further raised to allow the missiles to be long enough. The whole shebang would look kinda Delta-class-SSBN-ish

Not on the same scale, but the Patria AMOS automatic 120mm mortar has been tested on Swedish CB90 combat boats, which are really, really small.

No, they have SLR's/FN-FAL's but they're all in NBC gear.  Some are ground crew without weapons, the 'guards' have helmets.  There's a pilot & a few unarmed (dog handler has a sidearm) generic NATO informal uniform with caps but could pass for RAF.  The guys in NBC gear should fit the theme I'm after.

Squadron/Signal "US Battleships In Action Part 1".....the early battleships, including Arizona, of which I have "a number" on order from different mail order houses. More later when they're delivered.
Expect lots of flying battleships, space battleships, etc....
