Well I'm north-western English as far back as can be traced, but family tradition (i.e. unprovable) holds that the original "Weaver" was one Ralph de Wevére who came over with William the Conqueror, was knighted on the battlefield at Hastings and was granted lands in Cheshire. Mixed feelings about that: on the one had he was a nobleman, on the other he was bloody French! ;)

Only partially so if he was a "real" Norman, could have been worse ? If he was one of William's Bretons then you would be Celtic ! Runs and dives for cover before Jaybe reads this  ;D

Too late Chris!
I am from an English father (South coast, and a long line of nautical people, one having fought at Trafalger), and a Scottish mother. Her mother was Irish (Northern) and her father was American.
The family name comes from North Yorkshire there being a Sir Roger De Brignall, a Man at Arms, recorded back in the 12-1300's

Oh yes we even have a family crest.

It's nice to know your lineage, must delve into mine sometime. Does Battersea Dogs Home have a reading room ?  ;D

Seriously I've helped a mate with some research and it was good fun. The National Archive at Kew is one of the most proffesional places I've been to

Getting this thread back on track ; Hobby Boss A7-K from MZ for £7.99. Unusual period for me but I was thinking FAA or RAF SEAD role ?

Via the man with the red van, nine resin 1/48 RAF figures, pilots and ground crew. Very cheap off EB as some of them are painted but a rub over with Revell airbrush cleaner with sort that out and they should look good with my Mossie and Wellington dioramas when I get them finished.  ;D

Captain Canada

Stopped by my LHS and he had dragged a box out of somewhere dusty and in it I found a nice Airwaves Sea Thing deflated radar bag set. Always wanted to fo one parked and now I can. Mind you, much of the set is of no use these days due to the lovely Revell kit.....
