Got to admit, I toyed with the idea of picking up a 1/72 Flower class when I saw it in Modelzone, but 1), when am I going to build it & 2), where the hell am I going to put the bloody thing????

See you in November Dork, next year!!!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Got two packages from Japan today!
One from HLJ containing the Model Art Profile book on the Mitsubishi F-2!  The other was from Hobby Search containing one Pit-Road 1/144 J-35 Draken (two absolutely lovely kits per box) and one Platz 1/144 F-104J (also two kits). I got the F-104s just for the JASDF decals which will go on Revell Starfighters. The Drakens were purchased with the One Week GB in mind.
Cheers,
Moritz

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

That's good to hear Moritz - I got an email from HLJ saying mine had been dispatched.....the day the volcano blew! :banghead:

Still no sign of it

I am a bit slow on posting some of my purchases here but I only just recently found this thread......

At the Scottish nationals I bought an AZ model Supermarine Seafang F.MK.32 in the Suez boxing. It will be used for 3 models I have or am sort of working on. Stinger hook is going to my FAA F-40Q in Korea, the tail from frame 9 is going to a kitbashed Spitfire Mk24 while the wings will get grafted onto a Hasagawa Mk VIII spitfire to make the first prototype Mk14 Spiteful.

No idea when I will get around to half of the above though

Oh why do I do this to myself.......

A pair of obscure Russian kits of obscurish Russian things, for a cheap price that is fully justified by their quality:

1. Condor 1/72nd MiG-21UM Mongol (the 2-seat trainer). Some nice fine detail spoilt by grungy moulding defects and a little bit of short-shooting. Includes a pair of outstandingly bizarre rocket pods which are like super-streamlined UV-57s. Yellowish canopy. Buildable with patience, but probably best used to contribute it's fuselage to a mix'n'match Mongol using bits from other MiG-21 kits.

2. Can't-read-the-Russian brand 1/72nd LA-15 (like a high-wing MiG-15). Same story, but with grungier moulding defects, and unhelpfully moulded in black plastic. The actual sprue is heavy enough to use as a garden gate. Nice fine surface detail, which is probably going to get massacred trying to fix the large ripples and sink holes. The Undercarriage doors sum it up: on the inside they have nice inner skin detail, on the outside they look like papier mache.....

Tentative thoughs for the La-15 are an evolved version with an axial engine that makes room for a wider-track undercarriage (it's principle failing).

Depends on the kit, the mongol is pretty poor boxing thats been issued from various sov block producers. The foxbats however are rather nice, and way better than the hase kit.
