just got back from a Rumage sale, and for 50 cents, imanaged to get a whole box full of prebuild models (all 1/72 in bad shape)
some of them will be restored to decent display condition, but most of them will be used for spares.

to be repaired and restored:

-Airfix Piper Arrow
-Airfix Supermarine Spitfire Mk.1 (possibly a dutch bird)
-Matchbox Hawker Tempest (thinking cambodian or Thai)
-unknown Hawker Hunter F.4 (dont know what to make it into yet, but going on a static display)
-Italeri FW190D (thinking Danish, can be rebuild with spares from a revell fw190A)

to be used for spares (cause there not in repairable condition)

-Matchbox F-4U Corsair
-Heller? Junkers Stuka
-Matchbox P-47B
-Italeri Henchel Hs123
-Revell P-51D
-Revell Hawker Hurricane Mk.II
-Matchbox Bf109E
-Airfix Fairey Battle Mk.1 (was gonna restore it, but is to badly build and damaged, so spares box  :banghead: )
on the bench:

-all kinds of things.

I've added a Matchbox Mystere IVA as well as an Airfix Fiat 91Y and I have an Revell Fiat (DEFA cannons) in the stash. So I'm thinking of a Fiat Folland Firecrown (Revell), an Armstrong-Whitworth Siskin, but the Airfix 91Y has me hesitating. Can anyone give me some ideas please?

Thanks

Fair warning: the Mystere IV kit is horrid. Some panel lines scribed by a 5 yr old and wing joints that just do NOT work. Assume the wing joints WILL be bad, and make a jig to hold it all firmly in place, FIRST.

Thanks for the warning. I suppose there are always going to some models with a bad fit and the wings would be more problematic than most. Oh well a jig you say? Would making a hole and using some panel pins help to get a better fit?

cheers

It would, but make sure you get the dihedral right, because the wing joints don't give you that either.... :banghead:

If I was doing another one (I've got another one, but don't hold your breath), I'd a) do a lot more test-fitting and sanding to get a better fit without so much filler, b) drill the wings and roots and put thin copper rod in them: thin enough to bend to the right angle after they're on, to make them fit: c) the jig.

Why not Australian in Vietnam ? Maybe the US Army passed some on to the Aussies (assuming of course the US Army had bought them)...double WIF ?

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Small radar in place of the camera nose, afterburner, two drop tanks and two Sidewinders as a cheap air-defence aircraft as per the original Gnat concept. You could even give it a hook and a cat bar and make it a Skyhawk alternative for small navies wondering what to put on their carriers.

Lawn Darts/F-16's aren't really my thing, but there was a Tamiya 1:48 'Block 50' kit on eBay for relatively little money. It arrived on Friday. Had a long look at the plastic - this kit has to be seen to be believed, it really is a stunning piece of plastic engineering. Only 'major' prob appears to be the number of sink marks on the smaller parts. I'll never be able to fill all of them, but should get to 70% of them.

Will almost definitely do it 'Real World', but having an F-16 in the stash again makes me think of getting a nice cheap one, maybe by Monogram or Italeri to Whif..... Mexican or perhaps French or Japanese with F-2A markings.... maybe

The Wooksta!

The Frog Beaufighter I won on ebay arrived on saturday, along with many Meteors.  Looks like a nice kit, if a bit basic by current standards.  Alternate tailplanes plus five(!) spare engine cowlings.  Look a bit small for Hercules but I'm replacing them anyway.  It'll end up as a real world aircraft - I'm tempted with Cunningham's aircraft as it's one of the decal options.

Awwww. That was my first kit when I got back into modelling 4 years ago.

Got a Heller 1/100 Vautour and a Ben Hobby A-4 off ebay. I'm going to attempt to bash them into a Douglas D-715.

Also got:

2 Academy 1/300 XB-70s
2 F-82s (been after 1 for ages then 2 come along  )
2 EE Lightnings
Frog Gannet
Emhar FJ-4

The Wooksta!

Don't really know what to call this.

Gave a box of assorted Luftwaffe wreckage to a mate a few years back.  Phone him up earlier and asked him to bring it into the club as I wanted some specific bits that I knew were in it.  So, I've scrounged back the wings and fuselage for a Matchbox Bf 110, along with the fuselage and tailplane of an Italeri Bf 110 ang the tailplane from a Frog 110G.

I fancy scratchbodging the Bf 162 Jaguar at some point, well, a developed version, and the Matchbox Bf 110 is a good basis - separate wings as opposed to a one piece lower wing - as I need to widen the front end.

Two boxes arrived today.

One contained a 1/130 Heller X-15 from eBay.

The other contained the last order I'll place with Nostalgic Plastic's original owner (seeing as how he called it quits this weekend).  It contained 1x Anigrand 1/144 Buran OK-GLI and 1x Anigrand 1/144 Buran OK.92 (both for half normal price).

I never realized how "off" the OK.92 is from the real Buran.  I always wondered why Arnold didn't just offer the OK-GLI/OK.101 kit with a new butt-end to make the OK.92.  There is a big difference between the two (not to mention the fit difference between the models.  The OK.101/OK-GLI fits much better than the OK.92).
I exist to pi$$ others off!!!

I got a no scale stated Leonardo Da Vinci "Armored Car" and the "Aerial Screw". Prepainted snap together (it looks like) but they both look nice (albeit expensive)

Is he still including religious tracts with all orders? That's what I got in my first & last order.
