From Edinburgh oxfam via ebay, a Revell 1/78th Fairey Rotodyne for £12 & free postage:thumbsup:  Chuffed to bits with that, given that the £17 retail price hacked me off. My joy was only slightly tempered by the one 24 hrs later that I saw, bid on, but couldn't watch to the end, and which went for £5.75.....

Obviously there's a zillion things you could with a Rotodyne, but one thing that occured to me, under the circumstances, was to do it in Oxfam colours and have it delivering aid.

Kit #901 - a Hobby Boss 1/72 Dewoitine D.520. It was planned to get this one for the decals only, with the decals destined to go on a kit that's on the way from Japan at the moment. Had no idea what to do with the D.520, but I think I've got a idea.
Cheers,
Moritz

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

That sounds like a very good idea.  The International Red Cross & Red Crescent have a fleet & often lease aircraft & stick their logo on them, why not Oxfam?
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Yep, and the 1/78th scale should work with 1/76th and/or OO-gauge railway stuff to get the cargo and/or make a diorama. I saw some "Mecca pilgrims" the other day who'd make good tribesmen/recipients.

Browsing around Oxfam's website, I see that their logo is nicknamed the "Kenny", which did give me the idea of modelling the aircraft in shot-down condition with the title "OH MY GOD THEY KILLED KENNY!"  ;D However, that feels like kicking a puppy so I probably won't, except in the very unlikely event that Oxfam really really piss me off...

Well, the woman that ran the local Red Cross shop was quite rude to me once but that's about as far as charities have got my back up!

Today, Italeri Bell AH-1/AB-47 Sioux.  Nice looking little kit.

From Squadron:
Revell of Germany 1/35 lkw gl "Wolf" short wheelbase (too bad they don't make a long wheelbase version - lots of SOF options there)
Revell of Germany 1/35 Unimog 2t. The weight of the plastic bits inside of the box crushed the cab section, so I'll need to get a replacement from Squadron.
Academy 1/35 M998 IED Gun ruck - great looking HMMWV kit - much better detailed than the Italeri kit and it comes with not one but two sniper rifles; a 0.30 and what looks like a 0.50
AFV Club M3/M5/M8 vertical volute suspension set (with road wheels and idlers) and a separate set of vinyl tracks to match. I don't have a detailed plan yet, but I'm thinking of a completely whiffed '30s APC or light tank.

Then again, you can make a "War Crime Scene" diorama with Kenny as a aid worker/pilot.

Revell 1/72nd Corsair F4U-5 from ebay today, will go in the stash and replace a goofed up one that will now donate parts to a Navy jet project involving doing something nasty to an EE Lightning and a Tigercat (if I can get hold of a Tigercat!).

More StarWarsism from ebay:

AMT Darth Vader TIE Fighter with flight display stand. This is the original AMT 1/32ndish big one (with the crappy Darth Vader figure who looks like he's sat on the loo), with a stand that consists of a vertical clear disc with a TIE Fighter-shaped hole in it. Unfortunately, the disc arrived cracked and the hatch glazing was broken too, but I decided to keep it and take the seller's offer of a partial refund.

AMT snapfast AT-AT walker. This is another barely accurate clockwork "working" version which I had visions of doing in a "downed" diorama. However, I hadn't appreciated just how small it is: it must be less than 1/144th, which makes figures for the dio problematic.
