*SIGH* I keep getting sucked in by good deals on eBay and/or new and reissued kits of subjects I've been wanting to build. Latest purchase was "unlovely and unloved" Heller 1/35 scale Leclerc (early edition as opposed to the T5/T6). The JMNs HAAAATE this kit because of its simplified details and pre-production/early-production features but I think it makes great kitbash fodder and can often be found considerably cheaper than the Tamiya kit.

Other recent additions which will also make the JMNs bleed out of the eyes include the Italeri Leo 1A5 (alleged but practically unnoticeable shape issues with the turret) and the Academy M4A3E8 (JMNs hate Academy just as matter of course), both in 1/35 scale.
Some clever and amusing quote goes here.

Took a gamble on e-bay on what is possibly my favourite aircraft, F-86 Sabre, after being inspired by my latest reading fodder.

Academy 1/48th F-86-F30. for the bargain price of £5.19!!

You up here this week?

I think MZ had some left - I spotted one on my way out.  Don't know if Fenwicks had a recent delivery but I do know that they have them on order.

Airfix 1/72 Spitfire Mk.Ia & PR.XIX.  Was thinking of maybe bashing a Mk.IV from them, the experimental Griffon mod that was mocked-up with six cannon.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Probably easier to backdate an Xtrakit Mk XII (that looks like a heavily modded airframe), with a new/old rudder (take the rounded one off the Airfix F.IX and swap it with the F.XII pointy rudder.  You'll have to find wingtips but that should be easy!)  Either that or find the old Aeroclub Spitfire F.XII fuselage conversion.

Dropped by at the LHS to pick up a cheap Revell 1/32 EC 135 "Polis" I had seen in their window when the shop was closed. Just shy of 7 EUR. Score! When I went in I saw they had the ICM 1/72 MiG-25PD, also for 6.99 EUR. Score #2! In the end I got both for 13 EUR. Cool!

Don't know whether the MiG will be whiffed, but the EC 135 will definitely get a whiff treatment. At first I thought I'd maybe make a kind of Swedish anti-tank chopper as a replacement for their Bo 105/HKP-9 with the HeliTOW system, complete in Swedish Splinters. But then I discovered that the rounded glazing of the EC 135 somehow reminded me of the "canopies" of the Falke and Stingray from the Maschinenkrieger ZbV 3000 range. So maybe I'll try my hand at some serious kit-bashing.

Then I went into town to see whether one of the department stores had the new Revell 1/72 F-4F in the black and silver scheme. For some strange reason, they always get them faster than the LHS. They didn't have the kit I was looking for, but they had some other stuff on sale.
So I went home with a Revell 1/72 F-16B for 6 EUR and a Revell 1/72 F-22A Raptor for 9 EUR. Scores #3 and 4! Can't have enough Revell Vipers. Don't know whether it will be whiffed, though. The F-22 is much more likely to be whiffed. Maybe stick the flying surfaces on an F-15 fuselage? And the intakes and exhausts on another airframe? Maybe even the weapon bays....
Cheers,
Moritz

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Latest ebay win:  Frog Meteor F.4

I hd a brainwave last night.  I'm going to drop some of the bits of the MPM F8 into rubber to use as detail parts.  I'm thinking mainly of the intake lips for the engines as the Frog kit does need them.

The last Meteor I won arrived yesterday, still sealed and with a price sticker on it.  58 pence!

Well my local MZ still havn't got any in (not sure who does the ordering/or how the orders are delivered as they are always late) but the Airfix franchise in Alders hasn't had them yet either. Now either Lee has bought them all or they havn't been delivered down south yet and the bl**dy BoB was fought down here  :banghead: :banghead:
