yes, im still joining in this GB.

i got the idea for a new type of snow camoflage 2 weeks ago when is was snowing outside, all i needed was an idea for an aircraft and markings.
the model i will be using is an Airfix 1/72 Spitfire Mk1 with parts from a PM Model Fokker D.XXI.
the aircraft will have a fixed ski landing gear and will be made up in Finnish markings.

pic of the main kit and the donor kit , more later on the build.
on the bench:

-all kinds of things.

ok, Progress pics  ;D

the inside of the cockpit has been painted, aswell as the seat, pilot and propellor.
the wing has already been assembled, the landinggear bay doors have been gleu'd and putty'd shut, the new ski landing gear will be placed on top of it, PSR will follow later this afternoon.

Finnish Spit!  :o Now you got my attention.

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Yep, me too & wait till Joe sees this thread!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

That's a good one Nils!

Those D.XXI skis are damn useful arn't they? Putting them on my Finnish Defiantovik: wanna give me some top cover?  ;D

FINISHED:

unfortunatly, the markings didnt came out as good as i expected  >:(, should have used soviet markings instead.
i think im gonna build a second entry, to make up the shortcomings of this one.

Looks good Nils.  Just the sort of thing the Finns would have found useful.  Would have surprised some enemy pilots expecting to see a Buffalo.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

I don't see any shortcomings, only a really sweet Ski-Fire! I like your mottling and I think the markings compliment the paint scheme excellently! The blue rudder with the white 3 is a nice touch!

Looks good !
Pretty Spitfire
But I see an error during the marking !
"FR" stands for Fokker !
Perhaps on the Spitfire would have "SM" to stand.
"SM" for Supermarine!

model looks really good in the scheme, different too with skis fitted, 'SF' was to be the prefix code for the Spitfires in Finnish service

cheers, joe
