It's made it onto this site, which I think is Czech? Whatever the language, I don't speak it, so I don't know if they "bought" it or not:

Its Slovak

"Allegedly it was built 20 pcs Meteor PR.19 what should be a high-rise version of espionage, with wings derived from U-2, with American engines, J-57-P-31, which said first flew on 13th marca 1956th Ceiling was supposed to 21 000 m. The aircraft apparently flew in the 13th prospective wing during the 1956 crisis over Egypt. Later said to have been rebuilt engines TF-33-PW-200A, and served until the end of 80 years. This information, coming from the BBC program "Timewatch" of 1994, but was not confirmed from other sources and may be a clever mystification."

Oh strewth, now it's in SLOVAK for goodness sake!  :banghead:

I like the 'clever mystification' bit though, just up my street.   -_- ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

I'm darned if I do!

What a ruddy nerve, and how arrogant can they get, just because their site is 'professional' I suppose. Only real true history is to be allowed now I suppose, fiction and novels are to be banned and we're all to be strung up.

I've half a mind to join the site and give them a piece of my mind!  :banghead: :banghead:    >:(

Don't take too much heed of pprune.  I know it well and it's the home of a lot of hot air and badly informed opinion!  If they wee modellers rather than pilots they'd be JMNs.   ;D ;D

def agree the pprune site comments a little harsh altho ill admit a feeling of disquiet when finding 'what if' material however well intentioned whilst browsing online relating to 'real' subjects, unfortunately the internet has become an acceptable research resource and more and more of the folks out there do use it as primary reference (unfortunately my own students included!)
as we all know (and id not single out any one project for this) the internet can have a life of its own with items being reposted and cited elsewhere without the original context or the posters knowledge, one persons obvious fiction can so easily become anothers fact

i stil love the PR.19 tho, hehehe

cheers, joe

The thing is, the ONLY pictures of the PR19 are obviously of a MODEL: does it not strike any of these people as a tad odd that there are NO 3-views, no B&W photographs, no Wikipedia entry etc.. to be found on the web? In fact, if you do a search on "Meteor PR19" most of the hits you get in the top of the list are this site..... The author of the report I just linked to is a professor for ****'s sake!

Hmmm.  Between apophenia, Stargazer, FAR, Robert, Talos, and myself, we can fix that...  We can probably churn out half a dozen profiles and high-quality line art based on some "recently declassified" photographs that apophenia and Stargazer can whip up.

It can be our own little What-If conspiracy.  Maybe plan for 4/1/11 as our unveiling date and have somebody put an article on Wikipedia about it, complete with illustrations?

Cheers,

Logan

LOL - Kit'll love you.....

It's not that easy to get an article on Wikipedia these days: if it hasn't got enough checkable external references then it gets flagged up for investigation by their editors. Can be done, but not easy.

So does that mean that we are not really a modelers' site, but really a TOP SECRET MAVERICK CIVILIAN THINK TANK?

Wait.  I will get back to you.  I must answer the door, there are two gentlemen dressed in black suits and ties and wearing sunglasses as well as a black helicopter circling overhead for some reason and raising quite a racket!
