So does that mean that we are not really a modelers' site, but really a TOP SECRET MAVERICK CIVILIAN THINK TANK?

Wait.  I will get back to you.  I must answer the door, there are two gentlemen dressed in black suits and ties and wearing sunglasses as well as a black helicopter circling overhead for some reason and raising quite a racket!

Shoot first, answer questions later...

An "authoritative" report from the Missouri University of Science and Technology (page 12):

WHAT????

Oh no, here we go again...........

Anyway, who said there aren't any plans?  -_-

Quick! Somebody post them on a different website before Kit realises that he's just put the plans on the web!

Having re-read the whole thread, I wonder if that paper by the Missouri Prof was the one that triggered off the USN Lt. working at Langley to phone me?

Is there a scource date for that .pdf anywhere? There's no mention in the file itself, not even the name of the guy who produced it.

[Later] Ah, worked back through the URL and found that the author is one Dr. J David Rogers. I wonder if I should email him......?  -_-

[Even later] It gets worse, the guy was in the USN himself, and served on carriers, flew in P-3s etc. Is he going to be PISSED when/if he finds out the awful truth........

OGL,

Have they ever printed anything about Whiffs in there? Apart from the results of the Mushroom each year we do tend to be treated a bit like plastic lepers within the IPMS community, they're all too busy counting rivets or doing colour scans on Luftwaffe models......

But it's a great idea, I may do that. The only problem is, it will out of date before it gets printed!

Actually, yes, at least in the IPMS USA Journal.  They had an article about an Italian Navy A1-H Skyraider.  I know for a fact that the IPMS USA Journal's Editor has built "Hypotheticals" (a whiff by any other name) in the past.

There's always a first time Kit LOL.  The powers that be within the IPMS(UK) have mellowed towards us in recent years. They have even taken one or two of our ideas on bord, like the bugler sounding the last post for the act of remembrance at SMW. (I claim a 50% share on that one with Rob Monfea)

While it does look very realistic, I amazed they actually thought that was a serious concept model
That being said, I'd like to remind everybody in a manner reminiscent of the SNL bit on Julian Assange, that no matter how I die: It was murder (even if there was a suicide note or a video of me peacefully dying in my sleep); should I be framed for a criminal offense or disappear, you know to blame.

If I could get all the data about the entire story, I could write it for the IPMS USA magazine.......
They will be printing up my primer on "Whiffing" next week in the SVSM Newsletter.  I predict that it will be "cussed and discussed" and then "cussed" some more...Stay tuned.

Dragon,

could I get the text of that primer? I'm planning to write an article on whiffing for the IPMS NL magazine and could use some ideas.

Dragon,

How much data do you need? After Telford (3 days to go, agghhhhh!) I can get you anything you want on that front.  ;D

KJ,

And why shouldn't it be? The same thinking worked fine for Kelly Johnson and Lockheed, so why not Armstrong Whitworth?
